My sincere condolences, Ann

That must have been a terrible experience for you and your family :-(

I guess I'm lucky to live where I live, today I received my
Covid certificate.
But I still can't get back to the UK to see family.
My Brother died last month and I couldn't get over for the funeral
had to watch it on Zoom, what a weird experience that was.

Hobson's choice for us, Ann. Over 60's can only access Astra so take it or leave it :-(

The problem was that the Pfizer vaccine was not able to be delivered to Australia early on due to the EU blocking supplies, so the Feds placed all their hopes, and thereby, by extension, all their eggs, on the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Then, of course, the reports of adverse reactions started, not helped by the surrounding journalistic sensitisation of those reactions.

ZZzzz, yes very unfortunate; Perth and Peel regions are in lockdown. Where we live (Bunbury) is classified as being in the South West so we are not affected even though we are only 160 kms south of Perth.

We were affected earlier in the year when my cataract surgery was postponed.

:-D :-D :-D A double edge sword my friend.
I had Pfizer-BioNTech back in February and all I
had was a sore arm.

My cousin in Perth W A said they are in lockdown till Saturday which has stopped them going up north.

It hasn't, Linda, as the variant is now the one causing the current lockdowns in many States.

The AstraZeneca jab has been available for some time now in Australia but I've been reluctant to have it until the recent cases made me realise that I had been mistaken in delaying having it.

My fault entirely.

As for access, I phoned the GP's surgery on Tuesday morning and was told that there was a 3.30pm slot that afternoon; at the same time they booked me in for the follow up jab on 2ist September at 2.00pm.

I must admit though, the information relating to the various vaccines available has been totally confusing. The vaccination programme in Australia is not being handled very well with contradictory advice being given by the States and the Feds.

I am glad that you have at least had your first jab Alan. They should have been vaccinating long before now instead of attempting to keep the borders closed. That strategy isn’t going to work against the delta variant

Glad you're feeling better, Allan :-)

I had a weird reaction to the first one - but it could have been adrenalin - but am so glad my daughter took me.
As she drove me home, she said 'Mother, are you stoned'?
Yes, I had all the symptoms of being stoned - I'd read about them ;-)

I was giggling, saying weird things, made L stop the car for something to eat, carried on eating weird things when I got home - and slept!

I took myself to the second one, which was closer to home, and the symptoms (fortunately) weren't so bad. I managed to catch the correct two buses home! :-D

Kay, I've heard that quite a few people have been like that. A mate of mine missed an appointment through it :-)

Exactly my reaction to the AZ jab. Just slept and slept and slept. Couldn't have cared if the house collapsed round my lug'oles, just as long as it didn't wake me up. Next day, it was as though I'd dreampt it all. Very odd experience. Glad you're feeling better today.

I'm still trying to work out if I should feel flattered or insulted ;-) :-D :-D

I had my first Covid jab on Tuesday afternoon. It was AstraZeneca.

Woke up, or tried to wake up, on Wednesday morning, feeling shivery and definitely not up to scratch.

Slept for most of the morning, and in those lucid moments between naps felt as though my mind was not quite in coordination with my body.

It was just as well that I was so tired because I would definitely have been a danger had I tried to use the car.

At least this morning I woke up at my normal time, with just a sore arm. :-D
