Oh, do please share in my excitement.

In a book that is free to read, on-line, in the pursuit of my ephemeral interest , I have found 'An account of the custom on wool, woolfells and hides;cloth and wax;and wares; subject to the poundage;exported or imported by aliens, Chichester, 28 October 1323- 23 September 1324.

Now, don't you think that is one of the most exciting things you have ever heard/

Thought not, but it doesn't take much to get me cheering!

I think you should send the link to Liz Truss. She needs all the help she can get ;-)

Who?

I don't know how to send a link. I am much happier with the 13C port customs than I am with new fangled contraptions.

I won't be able to sleep tonight until I've investigated further Sharron....

Then we can discuss it at length.

There's a film, or rather, 'movie' called 'Woolfell'.
It appears, it doesn't feature one sheep hide :-S

Does it mention who held the cockett?

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 22 Jun 2021 13:54

Having googled the word, what's a cockett in your world, Sharron? ;-)

Sharron

Sharron Report 22 Jun 2021 14:07

The seal for the wool staple of course!

I am sorry, I spelt it incorrectly. It was not deliberate, everybody needs to have a good Google!

The word is cocket.

Sharron

I may, of course, be corrected on this point.

maggiewinchester Report 22 Jun 2021 14:26

The town in Wales has two 't's'
