For what it is worth my thoughts are that Princes Margaret couldn't pronounce Elizabeth so called her Lilibet, so to call their daughter Lilibet is good, in my opinion anyway.

Yes they do Island and I am one of them who never knew my father's family. I began to resent the fact the choice was made for me as I grew up, felt it should have been my decision not my parents'. That is the point I was trying to make. It was what made me research my family history. I am not concerned about titles. Princess Anne's children don't have them.

I agree with LaGooner that Elizabeth would have been a sensible choice with Lillibet her pet name like the Queen. How can they say that they don't want all the papparazzi attention that caused Diana to be hounded, then bring it on their daughter by giving her a name that will identify her and guarantee it for her for the rest of her life beggars belief.

I agree Sharron

There is such a huge disparity between the lives of the two brothers.

William was born, and still is, second in line to the throne. His trajectory is only ever upward through first in line until he will become monarch himself. The same as for thei father.

Harry, like Prince Andrew was third in line to the throne and now he is seventh. Neither of them really have a place and are not really royal.

Like the children of Princess Anne, Arch and Lillibet are only really related to monarchy. It is better for them to not be burdened with titles.

I think a lot of people grow up away from the other side of the family Ann. I'm sure they'll manage just fine.

A new life to possibly be spent mostly away from half her family though because of her parents' wants. The children may grow up not agreeing with their parents' actions and wishing they could have been royals.

Keep it nice people, there's enough nastiness elsewhere.

FGS, can't you be happy for a new life?

Ah but that was before they turned on the family big time

ZZzzz

ZZzzz Report 6 Jun 2021 19:04

Their son is named Archie Mountbatten, Mountbatten being a family name.

LaGooner

Nah definately not ZZzzz. You cannot insult the Queen one minute and then name a child after her, well only the likes of Megan can.

ZZzzz

ZZzzz Report 6 Jun 2021 18:59

I don't think it is creeping, I think it is their way of passing family names down the generations.

LaGooner

Same here Phyll, I won't put my opinions of them both on here as I would probably get banned as it would definately not be polite :-|.

Sharron

Sharron Report 6 Jun 2021 18:48

There will be a few Lillibets born in the next couple of years I bet.

Phyll

Phyll Report 6 Jun 2021 18:43

I agree LaGooner but Meghan is very good at that. Cannot stand either of them with their "poor me" whining.

LaGooner

LaGooner Report 6 Jun 2021 18:26

That's creeping a bit isn't it :-|.

Seems she will be known as Lilli :-)

How lovely for them and another great grandchild for the Queen. I would have preferred Elizabeth to Lillibet though. I think they could have used the pet name but given her Elizabeth as her given name. I wouldn't mind betting she will probably be known as Lilli.

A bit of good news at last for the Royal family & an uplift for the country generally.
