Sharron, I've been retired many years now but where I worked, the person responsible for tea-room purchases was absolutely forbidden to buy Nescafe coffee for our coffee/tea breaks for the reason that Maggie states. In fact 'the firm' was quite ethical about what went into the tea room and, as it was paying, we all fell into line (not that we wouldn't have anyway, I hasten to add).

There was someone years ago that tested how long food lasted if it was stored as suggested and I think chips lasted weeks, this from a fast food place.

Like you, Sharron, I avoid Nestles - they provided free formula for women in 3rd world countries, so their breast milk dried up - then the mothers realised how much the formula cost, and that there was no clean water in their village to make the formula.
Many babies died.

I didn't watch the programme, but can imagine :-|

'What Are We Feeding Our Children'?

It was terrifying.

I didn't realize just what muck people, particularly children, eat as their staple diet. I do look through the site when I am doing a supermarket order and think there are a lot of things I just would not consider buying but never guessed that was what some people ate all the time.

Wouldn't you know it would be Nestles who took the trouble to introduce their over-processed junk food to the people who live by the Amazon.

I have not knowingly bought Nestles for some thirty years and I just hope this programme influences many more people to avoid their products too.
