You can be invited to edit trees on Ancestry but it is only with the owner's permission

I thought that the only way anyone can alter anything on your tree on Genes and Ancestry is if you give them your password - so keep it to yourself. If you have given it out, change it immediately.

Is it a Wikitree?

Wherever we have our trees it is always advisable to have your main tree offline Plus keeping a backup copy for emergencies.

Welcome to the boards John

If you are talking about a tree on Genes Reunited, nobody but yourself can work on it. Even if you give someone access to look at your tree, that's all they can do - look (and take the information for their own use) Unless they have your password ............

On Ancestry, you can give someone else access to work on your tree but you have to give them the access / necessary permissions initially. Unless they have your password.

How can I prevent others from altering data I have put on my tree. In other words, how can I make sure that only my data stays on my tree, .I would be happy to look at any data others may feel was incorrect but I want to be the one doing the altering's.
