Hi Folks
I have recently had a post deleted by Genes reunited.
No reason has been given for this deletion.
I am trying to contact them at email given
http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/help and
[email protected]
Both have been unsuccessful as both require a named person.
Could anyone assist please

Thanks
Alistair

Hello Alistair. On what board did you post your thread? Did you post any personal details like email or tel number?
I'm sure they will email you with the reason.
I have no idea of what your thread contained so can't comment.
Not sure what you mean by a named person?

The support @ address should work, you don't need a name for that one.

Alistair

Genes never explain to the poster why their comment has been deleted.
Did you see if yours was reported?
I've never heard of Genes removing a post without it being reported by another member.
Did it just disappear?
Are you sure it isn't on another board?

What do you mean by 'require a named person'?
You can contact them on the links you've given on your own account. Don't expect a quick reply though - GR is mostly unmanned.

Might be best to do as we all do when posts are reported and removed - move on I'm afraid.

I didn't see the offending post but did see most of the rest of the thread. Unfortunately it was the first post of the thread so the whole thread was deleted which may have included some useful advice for Alistair.

One of the helpers posted that a living person should not have been named because of possible consequences. I don't think they admitted to reporting the post.

I suspect Genes didn't delve into the problem but just took the easy way out and deleted the thread.

Alistair was looking for his wife’s birth family and named three generations. No one admitted to reporting the post.

He is not the only one lately to be told not to name the people he is looking for. If it the same person saying these things then they should avoid the Find Living Relatives board.

Yesterday Genes deleted two threads on that board where the OP had been reported.

if you can''t name the person you are looking for what is the point of the board
i saw alsisters thread and he made some good points
shame on genes for not being transparent in explaing why they removed the post, too easy for mr/mrs anon to press the button without a viewable explaination

Absolutely Maddie - a totally pointless board if you cannot name who you are looking for! '

Genes does agree as the following sentence is in the information at the top of the board : 'Town or area where you think the person might be and name are acceptable. '

As on any chat board you always get the over zealous board police ;-)

I found what Alistair posted yesterday evening on his James Jones thread mostly disquieting. No one has that right and I hope Alistair realises it and reports it.

My apologies it was on my adoption thread not on Alistairs Jones thread.
