The latest scam we got in our emails today.

Our current car is tax-rated zero!!

***********************************************************************************************

DVLA have been notified electronically about you latest payment for your vehicle tax failed because there is not enough money on you debit card.

Your vehicle is no longer taxed.

We have generated a new invoice, and we suggest you to use a credit card instead of a debit, to avoid any other consequences that might appear in case again won't be enough funds inside.

Pay Now ?

If you do not pay your fine on time your vehicle could be clamped or crushed, or your details passed to a debt collection agency.

You may wish to save or print this email confirmation for your records.

This was interesting listen :

But I did think the reporter was too calm. When I'm playing along I appear to be panicking ;-)

I heard that, too, names, but didn't go onto BBC sounds to hear how heended the call.
I wonder if he says what I say, which is unprintable! :-D

Andysmum, interesting that they don't put your vehicle's registration,
I mean, it's apparently from the DVLA - who would have all your car details.
if you have 2 vehicles, how would you know which one it is?

I look forward to getting this one, and asking which of the 6 vehicles (I don't have), they are referring to!

Maggie - 6 cars. I tried that once when apparently I had had an accident. Couldn’t get them off script.

At times like that, I repeat 'Really???' in ever increasing disbelief, volume and shriekiness :-D :-D

....though, that only works on the phone....

I had one (of many, sometimes up to four a day with various stories) on the phone the other day, human voice not Metal Mickey, so I told him my wife had just died and I was expecting a call from the undertakers.

He ended the call pretty quickly!

If he can lie, so can I.

Among today's crop was a guy telling me I needed to renew the appliance cover on our washing machine.
Had that one before and knew it was not due at this time pf the year.
So asked him what other appliances his company covered (I knew there were half a dozen all installed when the kitchen was done up.
He obviously didn't know the answer so he rang off.

I had 3 silent calls today.

A couple of weeks ago, I had the 'renew appliance cover on washing machine', whereupon, I informed him that I don't have cover on my 10 year old washing machine.
He insisted that I did, so I told him to cancel it, which he said he would - but needed my bank details, of course!.
As I pointed out, they would be the same as when the imaginary cover was taken out on the washing machine, so he should have them!

Next time, I may ask how much a month is taken out, and by what firm, and ask why it doesn't show on my bank statement! :-D
