I have a horsfeild Tortoise and an African Sulcata
and neither hibernate

Both are male :-D :-D

The big guy eats us out of house and home

She went down late Oct so has had a long sleep

I bed her down in hay inside a big box inside her house

I insulate around and under the box .
Hay under and foam insulating beads each side and behind it

The box has a lid with several holes in it

Her house is then sealed up so nothing can get in to hurt her

She gets checked every so often to check she is ok

She has her house on the patio that has hay bedding in it

She takes herself in and out as she wants

Can just close it down if the weather turns

She has had a little roam today and gone back to bed :-D

Harold the aged sixty plus tortoise is awake

Is actually a female Greek spur but only discovered that last year

Has been with us since 1968 and was daughters pet that stayed after she married

Named Harold because Harold Wilson was prime minister then and hubby said the tortoise was slow like him!

It’s always a phew every year when she comes out of hibernation
