Can anyone tell me why two of my grandsons are not listed. Both were born at home 2007 and 2010

Not listed where Dorothy?

They are quite recent births, so the records may not be on many public sites yet.

Dorothy, I, too, have a grandchild born in 2007 - in a hoapital. There is no listing yet and, as Gwyn writes, I think it is too soon. It looks as though listings go up to and including 2005.

Dorothy, try the GRO site. It is free but you must register. My 2007 grandchild's birth is on there.

Strangely, though, there is no mother's maiden name given and it is different from the surname of my grandson.

I have no idea why, but the entry is a tad different from what I am used to seeing. I wonder whether it is because my daughter was born overseas or whether they have changed the format we see online?

Thank you all for being so helpful

Well, would you credit it!!!

I have taken a second look and this time my daughter's maiden name is there - it's unmissable, in bold letters. Anyone would think that someone is working, entering records as we write.

Gawd, the plot thickens. If you type in the mother's maiden name it shows on the record but if you leave that space blank, the mother's maiden name does not appear when the child's record comes up.

I seem to recall that we've been here before about this subject. Someone will remember no doubt.
