Bother! I’ve just got back from the shops and Sharron has to go and remind me what I forgot.

My father was known by his second name all his life, but never bothered to tell hospital staff that. So it was often difficult to find him in hospital because we used the name he was known by.

Oh yes, cousins. when I was young (over 70 years ago), My second cousin on my father's side was Aunty to me, on my Mother's side I used their names. No wonder the family tree started out as a mystery. And yes, friends of my parents were Aunt and Uncle but neighbours were always Mr and Mrs.

I am very excited about the shopping being delivered today, especially as we have some vanilla ice-cream coming! It doesn't take much.

It is not even that simple with the naming thing. My grandmother's brother married the youngest daughter of my grandfather's sister. (Keep up, it's a Sussex village!) So, they were Uncle Charlie and Aunty Carrie. Her older brother and sister were just Kate and Steve, even if they were around sixty when I was born because they were some sort of cousins.

Another cousin of my grandmother was Aunty Francis, but she had married late in life to a local farmer who we only ever knew as George Smith.

It's an American thing! I don't like it, which shows my age, but I have learnt to live with it. :-( :-(

My hairdresser calls me Mrs.--- and most of the staff at our local hospitals ask what you would like to be called.

When I was young our neighbours were always Mr & Mrs ? and close friends of my parents were called Aunt & Uncle by us children.

Now even some scam calls start with your first name. lol.

:-D :-D Must be this lack of contact with the outside world makes us get excited with contact for the supermarket. when did all and sundry decide to use first names? I can imagine my Mum being most upset if somebody had called her P****** instead of Mrs A****.

Always like to get my order confirmation from Iceland.

Put an order in this morning and have just seen the e-mail confirmation which begins 'Thank you dear Sharron Green'.

Like a birthday card, makes you feel nearly as loved as a Haribo does!
