I had some kind of vaccination when I was a very small child in a clinic. I remember that if you got a reaction you had a strange brown yucky lump.

I was only done once and nearly had to have it in 1966 to go to Italy as there was an outbreak in UK but it was over by the time I went.

PatinCyprus

PatinCyprus Report 12 Mar 2021 19:55

It's a round scar Fly, usually top of your arm.

My son couldn't have it in 1973 because he had a very small patch of
eczema. My daughter didn't have it in 1978 as they'd stopped it.

LondonBelle

LondonBelle Report 12 Mar 2021 19:54

Von

Von Report 12 Mar 2021 19:54

Small pox here I believe was eradicated in the 1930s except for odd cases

LondonBelle

Von

Von Report 12 Mar 2021 19:52

what age was smallpox vaccine given in UK?
Still, from 1948 until 1962 official policy was to vaccinate infants (children under the age of 12 months). Revaccination was then encouraged in school children and adults. Second, ring vaccination was used on people likely to have been exposed to the virus through contact with known cases.
