I wish I had enough hair to worry about. ;-)

ZZzzz

ZZzzz Report 10 Mar 2021 15:45

I have to at least wet my hair or else it sticks out like Ken Dodds did.

Sharron

Sharron Report 10 Mar 2021 14:58

I use Vosene and have not used conditioner for many, many years.

Even since retirement I washed and conditioned my hair two or three times a week.

Since last March's lockdown I have washed it twice a week (usually after I've danced because it is usually damp with perspiration). What I have barely used since last March is conditioner.

Have to admit, when I worked, I'd wash my hair twice a week.
Now I'm not working, it gets washed whenever!

As I said, when I lived in Shetland, I rarely washed my hair.

Edit: Do you follow the advice of your link, RTR?

My friends mum washed her hair once a fortnight because it was so long, she hadn't had it cut for years and it took a long time to dry, she would then tie it back and pin it up until the next hair washing day.

Yes, namelessone. Many years ago there was a TV programme with Graeme Garden, who was a doctor before he joined The Goodies, where a lot of volunteers left their hair unwashed for 6 weeks. There was a weekly progress report where the volunteers got more and more surprised and pleased each week.

At the end they were asked if they would revert to frequent washing. Most said yes, but I think there were a couple who said no.

My grandmother was one of those who said I should brush my hair 100 times each morning to make it shiny. The origin of that practice might have been because Victorians probably didn't wash their hair that often and brushing spread the natural oils. :-)

maggiewinchester Report 9 Mar 2021 20:21

Yes, it does, nameslessone.
I did it whilst living in Shetland, with no bathroom and no hot tap!

'The Great Unwashed'!

nameslessone

nameslessone Report 9 Mar 2021 18:52

Isn’t there a theory that if you leave your hair unwashed long enough it actually starts to be cleaned by natural oils.

I,m not sure I am going to offer to check this out :-D

Sharron

Sharron Report 9 Mar 2021 18:41

That's true.

Giving Nature a hand, like?

Caroline

Caroline Report 9 Mar 2021 18:28

Cannibalism was at one time practically universal.

nameslessone Report 9 Mar 2021 17:15

Only if everything and everyone was normal.
