An odd one for me is Appratus, various spellings, she was born 1823 and I haven't seen it come down the generations.

Cheeky! :-D

The Augustus in my family is too recent. But I think I did pretty well with a version of John as there were several of that name around 5th gr grandparent level.

Just off for a glass of English cider!

Seems the names come from two 5x great grandfathers.

Now off to check what names I should have used ;-)

A well-thought-out combination, I think.

A nod to Grandfather and also a bit of a nod to a long-gone French king - since you mentioned Augustus, Belle.

I wonder if any of those names came down the Brooksbank line?

Suppose it is the modern day version of Augustus.....different :-0 :-D

this is what I found

The name August is a boy's name of Latin origin meaning "great, magnificent". August has been heating up in Hollywood – used by Mariska Hargitay, Lena Olin, Dave Matthews and Jeanne Tripplehorn for their sons, and is rapidly becoming the preferred month of the year for boys' names.

At last a mother proud to show off her baby.

Where does the name August (Phillip) Hawke come from?
