Gwyn, I have an OH like that. His shed is like a wonderland, full of bits that may come in useful one day - if only he could find them when he wanted them!

This is a man who, when cleaning out the garage, among numerous trips to the tip, managed to take a big roll of bubble wrap that I'd bought and never used. He has since had to buy some! :-0

I have had a clock in a repairers since August....but I think covid has had a hand in that!!

but a while back the glass tube for a barber pole and a glass bezel for a clock.....

All TV programmes are set up, rehearsed and edited.
Of course the contributors get paid, perhaps not by the hour as it is advertising for them. The production company pays them.

I think that some of the repairers have their own stock of old supplies, which they've saved from other projects or finds eg. the Victorian glass used to repair the stained glass theatre windows.

I've heard Steve mention his collection of clock parts too.

You're right though.
They manage to locate some very specialised equipment sometimes.

I've seen several of the repairers on various TV shows lately.

Also who pays the workers, they very skilled and always seem to have work to do, it must cost someone somewhere a fortune for their wages alone.

it would be interesting, to me if, for example to know how long the clock repairer spends on a clock..

they must also have a brilliant researcher for obtaining repair materials...

On these shows, we just watched an older The Repair Shop show in which there was a shoe stretcher when finished was red, then hubby was watching salvage hunters restorers and he thinks he saw that shoe stretcher in the background.
