I have seen info about sticking a piece from the stem into a potato then planting the potato. I plan to try with the roses I bought reduced before Christmas. Hope your grow Florence and

I have done something similar with a cutting from a rose bush.

Take a cutting about 6-8inches long remove the thorns and leaves just leave 2-3 leaves at the top. Plant into pot about half way making sure that where the thorns were is in the compost . I used to do this when I pruned the Rose trees . Always had a few that were successful.
Nothing to lose by trying . Good luck.

I bough a lovely bunch of red roses from my local supermarket. They are a lovely shade of scarlet red.
I noticed today that on some of the stems where the thorns are, new green shoots have appeared and are growing.
Does this mean when the flower heads die, i could put rooting powder on the end of the stem and grow it on in a pot?

Has anyone attempted to do this before?

Suggestions please
