BC's Public Health Officer announced this afternoon that all bars and restaurants must stop serving alcohol at 8 pm on December 31, and cannot re-open for drinking until 9 am on January 1 2021.

All liquor stores also have to close at 8 pm on December 31.

Restaurants can stay open until 10 pm, but there must be no alcohol sold or served after 8 pm.

She's hoping that this will put a stop to pub crawling and partying, and hopefully prevent a surge in new cases next week.

Wonder if it will work????

As you might expect ............... there is a lot of anger being expressed by owners of bars, pubs and private liquor stores because they have already bought in huge amounts of alcohol to sell on one of the busiest nights of the year.

We were put into tier4 at midnight last night so from 0001 on 31st all pubs and bars and restaurants in our area are closed until further notice. They too have bought stock for not only the New Year but for the future. Many of them will not open again

The idiots will just congregate in each other’s houses instead, where they will spread the virus more widely. They probably woukd be safer in the pub

"A Pub With No Beer"

Oh it's-a lonesome away from your kindred and all
By the campfire at night, we'll hear the wild dingoes call
But there's nothing so lonesome, morbid or drear
Than to stand in the bar of a pub with no beer.
