I got my state pension earlier in the year. I must admit I was surprised to get a letter advising of winter fuel allowance of £200. I've never had any other benefit in my name.

I had my £10 bonus this week but hubby hasn't had his yet but we get our pensions paid on different days.

We got our winter fuel letters a couple of weeks ago but it isn't in the bank yet. The letter said it should be in by Christmas.

Thank you for this, I have just looked and both OH and I have the £10 and the £100 fuel allowance. It probably costs them more than £10 to do tgecadmin when they send it out.

I think you should be eligible, Annie.

To get a Christmas Bonus you must be present or 'ordinarily resident' in the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man, Gibraltar, any European Economic Area (EEA) country, or Switzerland during the qualifying week.

You must also get at least one of the following benefits in the 'qualifying week' - this is normally the first full week of December:

Armed Forces Independence Payment
Attendance Allowance
Carer's Allowance
Constant Attendance Allowance (paid under Industrial Injuries or War Pensions schemes)
Contribution-based Employment and Support Allowance (once the main phase of the benefit is entered after the first 13 weeks of claim)
Disability Living Allowance
Incapacity Benefit at the long-term rate
Industrial Death Benefit (for widows or widowers)
Mobility Supplement
Pension Credit - the guarantee element
Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
********State Pension (including Graduated Retirement Benefit)******
Severe Disablement Allowance (transitionally protected)
Unemployability Supplement or Allowance

I have the ordinary old age state pension and I'm not entitled to the ten pounds.

Being over 80, OH and I get £300.00. It appeared in my bank account in the middle of November, but I still haven't had a letter.

We usually have £150.00 each, but this year they have given it all to me!! As I pay the fuel bills, it has saved OH the bother of giving me his half.

We haven't had the Christmas bonus yet, but no doubt it will appear on my December statement.

My winter fuel payment is £200 which should appear in my bank account by 23rd December.

The DWP announcement letter which I received on 26th November includes a 'free' number (0800-732-0160) to call if the payment has not arrived as promised.

Have your NI number to hand when you phone.

I still get my pension in cash at our village Post Office - got the £10 bonus this week and mentioned to the subpostmaster that I still hadn't had the £100 winter fuel payment. He said that hardly anyone had - they seemed to be very late this year.

I remembered that we always used to get £10 at Christmas so I checked again. Apparently the ordinary state pension is counted as a qualifying benefit so if you get a pension you should get the £10.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 9 Dec 2020 13:00

Vera I think everyone who draws a state pension gets the £10.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 9 Dec 2020 12:59

The £10 is the bonus payment, nothing to do with the fuel payment. Mine has been in the bank a couple of weeks now but they do vary with the timings so I am sure yours will be there soon.

Maddie

Maddie Report 9 Dec 2020 12:54

thank you but i,m not on benefits so very strange

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 9 Dec 2020 12:44

The £10 is a Christmas bonus paid to people on certain benefits. You will still get your heating allowance.

Maddie Report 9 Dec 2020 12:38

got my letter as usual
noticed in my bank account a credit from the DWP for £10
I have rang and rang them to go thro press this number and then that to be told they have a high volume of calls and may be better to ring back later, then to be cut off
I do not know what to do now i only want to talk to a human being
I need this money
