I’d not come across the Ian visits site, but that is probbly because he seems to concentrate on norf when most of my rallies were sarf of the river.

My g grandad was born at 31 Marsham Street, Westminster, in 1862.
His dad moved down from Cheddington, Bucks, in 1851, to become a Metropolitan Policeman.

I wonder if Joolz does his walk there on YouTube.

The website www.old-maps.co.uk is really useful too especially for really old London maps - it does other areas as well. You can enlarge and see the street names.

I didn't know of it either it covers loads relating to my tree and also my old stomping ground :-D

It doesn't look like it had changed very much between when they lived there and made pipes and when the photographs were taken and the shop sold coke, coal and sandwiches!

If you go to the City of London Collage website and enter George Court you should get some pictures.

Turns out that one of my relations was baptized in St John the Evangelist Smith Square and they lived in Georges Court.

That was in 1815 so I don't suppose it was meg-posh then but does anybody know Westminster well enough to hazard a guess as to where Georges Court might have been please?
