Lol I had boyfriends from the age of 11, more serious from the age of 14. (bearing in mind this was the 50s, there was no 'funny business', wouldn't dare, all very innocent. My first real love was when I was two months short of 16 and I married him when I was 20. And still married.

My first 'boyfriend' - we walked around holding hands - was in Horrabridge, Devon.
We were both 10. He was called Stephen Crook - and his dad was a policeman! :-D

I 'dumped' him at his birthday party.
We were sat around the table, I was next to Stephen, their family dog - a Jack Russell - was under the table, by my feet.
The dog farted - and Stephen blamed me!!! :-| :-|

Couldn't be bothered with boys for at least 5 years after that - they were too much like my elder brothers.

My 1st love was Billy Fury but can't really include him as he was out of reach! LOL, so I'll have to go with the one who was not out of reach.

I met him when I was 16 & he was 20, we were introduced by HIS mother, a lady who I worked with at the Childrens day Nursery when I was a Pre Trainer (NNEB) his mum did the childrens laundry.I had known her for a year & a half before I found out about her son!

He sent me a note with his mum to ask me out for the day August 1963,w e went to Scarborough for the day in his new Mini !
When we set off it was a glorious day when we got to Scarborough (an hours drive) it was chucking it down, it was so bad we couldn't get out of the car.

We spent the time (3 hrs) watching huge waves crashing over the railings opposite where we were parked & laughing at folk sho thought it fun to have the waves soak them!
Then we both needed the loo, the ladies was close by but the gents were further away & when he came back he was absolutely soaked through so we decided to set off home.

I was a very shy person & sooo green! I didn't think he would get in touch again but the following week there was another note suggesting we try Bridlington the following Sunday! LOL.

WE courted almost 4 yrs & didn't live together, before getting married in1967, when I was getting ready for our wedding my mother asked if I was sure about getting married!! thinking she was serious! I said I was, then she suggested that if Billy Fury was to come knocking on the door & asking me not to do it & that I would go with him instead! LOL.

Joan.

If I had married my first love, I would have been a widower at 21.

My mum was engaged to her first love when she met my dad in 1978 and she was 19.

If she had stayed with Ray she would have had a very safe life with a sensible house in the same town as their parents, a sensible car and one holiday abroad every year.

Life with my dad was very different and at times definitely harder as she was often left effectively as a single parent as he worked away a lot but we had two family holidays a year. He stretched what they could afford for a house to absolute limit as he wanted the detached house. They live 380 miles from her family and 70 miles from his. He retired at 47 though so all the sacrifices were worth it.

They married in 1979 when my mum was 20 and my dad was 25 and are still married 41 years later and still enjoying retirement.

I had a few short term relationships but nothing lasted more than three months and I never loved any of them. I met Mr Owl my first love online in December 2015 and we met in person for the first time in January 2016. We took our first holiday together in the July of 2016 at a caravan park about 15 miles from where we live so if it went wrong I could jump on bus and get it back to town. We got married in June last year and so far so good.

My first 'love' was my a schoolfriends sister. I was 14 and D was 12. Just innocent stuff, holding hands and a few chaste kisses.

Whilst we eventually went our different ways as far as romance was concerned, we remained close friends and often went out for a drink if either of us were at a loose end.

I met the guy that she eventually married and they both came to my engagement party and my wedding.

I met the girl who was to become my wife when I was 19. A was 15 but looked a lot older. We married in 1970 and are still together.

I did 'catch up' with D again via the internet and she is now in Canada, having moved there many years ago, but then lost touch again.
