Good Morning Von <3 <3 and Everyone <3 <3

Thank You All so much for your kind thoughts, messages, ecards and posts at this time<3 <3
Knowing that my friends care is a such a big comfort to me.

J has had a massive stroke. They could not do anything for him locally as he has a blood condition called ITP which means that his own immune system attacks the blood platelets bringing the count very low. The only thing they could do here was give him blood thinners to try to disperse the clot which would have been disastrous.

They flew him by air ambulance to Southmead Hospital in Bristol where he had emergency surgery. They inserted a wirey device into a vein in his leg and slowly worked it up into his brain and sucked the clot out. They saved his life basically and I cannot say enough good things about this hospital. They are juggling all the various risks from his ITP and his IPF in their treatment for the stroke.

He has regained movement in the right side of his body that was affected by the stroke but it is weak. His speech is slowly returning.

My daughter has been driving me up to Southmead each day. It takes just under 2 hours each way. We have been spending up to 4 hours daily with J.

I have told him that my GR friends are all asking about him and he seems to understand. So thanks once again Everyone

Jem- pleased to hear J is slowly getting his speech and some movement back.

Progress after a stroke is often slow to begin with but gradually things will improve.

.Take care and sending love to you and your family <3 <3 <3

Good morning Von, Jem and Mr M. <3 :-D

Another beautiful day in Dodge! (Von, your north-eastern pal will know that expression!)

Jem, it is a horrible time for you and your loved ones and I hope things improve rapidly. It sounds as though the treatment is going very well. I have never even heard of ITP.

The only thing I'd like to add to all of the good wishes winging your way is to make sure that J takes advantage of everything offered to him in the way of recuperation - speech therapy, physio ... the whole lot. It will likely tire him but it will be worthwhile in the end.

And my very best wishes to you all, of course. <3 <3 <3

Morning Joy :-D <3

What are you up to today - anything exciting ;-) ;-)

JoyLouise

JoyLouise Report 9 Sep 2020 11:18

Oooh, yes, Von. I am going climbing again ..... up my tree of course. <3

I have begun making a list of causes of death of my ancestors so my children are aware of anything that may run in the family. My interest began when I discovered that many of us (though not me) were in the Universal blood group and three of us had a particular heart valve problem - which is also inherited.

Weird innit! :-D

What gets me is the time it takes to dress smartly and make sure
my make up is perfect.
The time it takes to stop and give your autograph is another bug bare ;-)

JoyLouise

JoyLouise Report 9 Sep 2020 13:44

Wouldn't know about the make-up and dressing smartly bit, Emma, as I have taken to showering, pants, dress, no wearing of make-up since Boris locked us all in. I am dreading having to put on a more beautiful front again! ;-) :-D

OH is the same but he has gone one step further - he now sports a beard! :-D

Been AWOL of late, am I in disgrace? ;-) ;-) Make sure the norty step is suitable warm for me. :-D

Jem <3 <3 Thinking of you.

I have only just gone back to putting me 'face' on again, if I have to wear a mask, I must make sure my eyes are sultry and smoky. I tell you what, my mascara has lasted twice as long, than normal. :-D :-D :-D ;-)

Hi Maddie. <3 :-D

I have saved a shed-load of money by wearing no make-up, only washing my hair around twice a week and keeping my toe- and finger-nails trimmed and manicured without any nail polish. I am wondering what I can squander my cash on! :-D ;-)

Oh, and younger bro has just rung and cheered me up in a way that no one else can...... apparently there are now six strains of Coronavirus, one particularly virulent but less serious than the others.

Just thought I'd pass on that piece of good news! :-0
