Shirley~I,m getting the hang of it Report 16 Aug 2020 08:18

Late last evening was just going to call it a night and when the cat suddenly appeared at my feet with a mouse in his mouth

I was OMG and got up from the chair immediately yelling at him to take it out

He ignored me and crouching down let his mouth grip a bit loose and the bee thing ran!

It went under the tv cabinet which is too low for the cat to get under and proceeded to run up and down behind it ,the cat chasing from one side to the other

Now I hate mice with a vengeance and am also terrified of them so having a live one loose was noooooooo

It did manage at one time to run to the corner behind the floor length curtains but moving them it shot back up the gap behind the unit

Back door was still open

Soo I got a towel thinking if I could throw it over it I could maybe then scoop it up and shoot outside

Cat eventually gave up and decided he would go out again

No sign of the mouse anymore .its not behind the cabinet or under any of the furniture cos I moved sofa etc out .

By 12.45 and I was well did it manage too to find the open door and ran even though I didn’t see it get across the room .it could have run from the curtain across in front of the patio doors and then out the main casement door

Thought I am going to bed and cat stays out !

Closed off the lounge to keep it from the rest of the house if it was still in ,and retired

Cat was waiting to come in this morning ,checked he has no more presents first ,He has eaten and has checked the tv unit floor as he remembered where his toy was last given up and is now sitting on my lap as I type

I am still very wary on is the bee mouse still in the house especially as I walk around barefoot

It will be days I think before I can relax and accept it’s gone :-( :-\

If it has !!

I saw a mouse!
Where?
There on the stair!
Where on the stair?
Right there!
A little mouse with clogs on
Well I declare!
Going clip-clippety-clop on the stair
Oh yeah. :-D

Oo-err Shirley! :-S

Have you got a mouse trap you could put under the TV unit - 'just in case'?

*I know most people don't 'randomly' have a mouse trap lying about - but I have two - somewhere.... the result of having cats* :-D

Oh Shirley I hope it has gone and that you can relax now xx. They don’t bother me but I remember my mother in law reaction when there was one in her house, she was even frightened for me, I did manage to get it and take it down the road to let it go.

I am terrified of them

Is the result of living in a large terraced Victorian house as a kid and going to bed every night in a double bed shared with elder sister the scampering would start overhead

In my mind I was worrying they could come down the chimney of the Victorian fireplace and get on me in bed

Only my nose would be above the bed covers every night

The whole terrace of houses had problems with them and it took several visits over weeks for the council rodent exterminators to eventually get rid

We had cats but they weren’t allowed upstairs,

There was a wood yard that ran along the length of the back gardens ,had been the mews stables in in past , that was overrun with mice and rats so rodents were an on going problem

Well it hadn’t gone

Just come downstairs and there was a dead mouse on the hall carpet

Tibbs knew it was still around yesterday as he was often doing a prowl around and lying in places he doesn’t usually

I went to bed early leaving the lounge door open so Tibbs could get to his food and litter box and that must have been a temptation to lure the mouse out and it was then done for

Was a yuk and lots of kitchen roll to pick it up and it’s been flushed away !

At least now though I know it’s has actually gone

:-D
