Our stuffed marrow was a bit good, I can tell you.

I have just remembered something Fred started when we had a lot of marrows. We always had pumpkin pie but, this year, he made one with marrow.

It is quite simple. You cook cubed marrow (or pumpkin) with a drop of water, some sugar, sultanas or currants and some cloves or ginger. Put it between two crusts and bake it,

Stop! You make my mouth water lol

Years ago I worked for a while as a waitress in a new hotel with restaurant. We did split shifts and would be fed at around 11.15am before the lunchtime service started. The chef would dish up stuffed marrow for staff meals so often I got really annoyed. One day he set my plate in front of me in the staffroom and I put his stuffed marrow over his head!
I was quite feisty even then lol

I like hearing about the Sharron who is coming back. She is very inventive.
Well done.

The nut roast mix sounds an ideal mix for stuffing the marrow.

My daughter likes baked marrow stuffed with sausagemeat, onions and herbs.
I usually zap the half marrow in the microwave to soften it a bit, then, when cool enough, it is stuffed and baked with a shake of paprika on top.

Bit of a long story but I had too much bread at the start of the week so we had both bread and bread and butter puddings.

Then , one of the old biddies rang to say she had been out to her yard and picked a container of blackberries that she didn't want to use. OH took the opportunity to walk down there to pick them up and I made a summer pudding which left me with crusts that I could better have used early in the week in the bread pudding.

Anyway, I dried them in the oven and ground them for breadcrumbs which I made into a nut roast and some butter bean and tomato cutlets. That used up that bit of tomato chutney in that jar that has been knocking about for far too long.

We had the nut roast for tea but there is plenty left which I think might be used to stuff the other half of the first marrow.

So it is all coming together nicely here and I get the feeling that Sharron is finally coming back!

My ex used to stuff marrow.
The first one, he used beef mince, and it was lovely.
For some reason or other, thereafter, he used soya mince - which my body doesn't like
:-(

I might stuff one.

When you've got a marrow you have a million possibilities I expect.
I just boil them and roast them!

We used to make Mock Goose, cooked mince with onion stuffed into the hollowed out Marrow and baked in the oven till the Marrow was cooked.

Boiled some, roast some.

There is the extent of my repetoire.

I do have an old recipe for marrow and ginger jam which is well yummy. I used it on the top of the cheesecake for a village lunch but wouldn't tell them what it was until after they had eaten it

It doesn't set very well but is very good for the top of a steamer..

Do you add anything to the marrow, Sharron?

How do you cook it?

I usually buy one or two a year, but would welcome different recipes, please.

My Dad used to make Marrow and Ginger jam for my Brother when he couldn’t eat anything with seeds or pips in it. I didn’t know if I would like it but I did.

Because there was no church fete this year, somebody had a couple of little stalls out, selling jams, chutneys and cake so we went along. All the cake, which we had gone for, had gone, but we bought a couple of jars of mint jelly and one of gooseberry chutney.

To make the outing worthwhile, we stopped at the veg stall and bought two marrows and a parsley plant. Marrow for tea, yum ,yum.

Third time out since 22nd March!
