I am happy to report that I have just taken delivery of a
Kindle Fire 7, 32 GB32 complete with Alexa <3

David Report 17 Jul 2020 21:03

To be honest all my PC's , monitors Kindles to date have all been bought
used, second hand, as has a music centre I never use. Through plus years all my cars were bought second hand.

The Kindle I bought from Amazon yesterday, NEW, breaks that pattern.

Elizabeth is euite correct.
When you login on the new Kindle with the same account details it will automatically bring in all of your existing books etc.
The fact that it is missing in action might be a complication - did you tell Amazon about the loss ?

Not sure about this - but think you should be able to get anything on your old lost Kindle duplicated on the new one

Seems like a satisfactory result David! Enjoy your day and your kindle, when it arrives! :-)

Thank you all for your help. My wife has one that works
that's the important thing, and by Saturday I ought to have
a brand new one.

If I get a refund all well and good, if not I'll consider it a write off.

RolloTheRed Report 16 Jul 2020 19:01

Have a look at the original listing. If you see this

"eBay Money Back Guarantee
Get the item you ordered or your money back. Learn more"

you will def. get a 100% refund whether the seller likes it or not and regardless of "seller does not take returns" etc.

Do not post any feedback while the item remains open.

Well done David! You should be ok now! Not sure you'll get much joy from your seller though! These sort of purchases are always 'buyer beware!' If they do agree to a refund they'll want theirs back ! :-\ worth a try I suppose!!

I have purchased a Kindle 8 from Amazon
£40.39 post free, I ought to receive it Saturday.

I've contacted the person I bought the Kindle HDX
from and informed them it's broke or blocked and
requested a refund.

Apart from this problem I have to say the Kindle
is a remarkable invention. The printed circuit board is a
quarter of the of the size of the battery which sits behind the
screen.

As well as my tablet, I've also got a kindle fire 7, really for books, research info and photographs.(fits into your pocket a treat!) I'm finding it very useful and have no complaints. I bought it new from Amazon a while ago for £ 35 when they were on offer! They're only £50 now, so not expensive !
Tbh David, I think it's too risky buying this sort of stuff on eBay particularly when the article is so cheap anyway. If it were me, I'd cut my losses and buy a new one!

Elizabeth2469049

Elizabeth2469049 Report 15 Jul 2020 22:12

I have a kindle Fire7 tablet which suits me - I bought it new from Amazon with the larger storage as I wanted the capacity for a lot of books! It does have some hiccups but is pretty good value compared to more sophisticated tablets. The Kindle Fire8 seems to have good reviews but I have no personal experience as well as a portable computer. I also now have a smart phone as I found in the Newcastle hospitals - RVI,Freeman, and the Wansbeck too - very erratic wifi!

Oh and I have a Kobo as well!

RolloTheRed Report 15 Jul 2020 21:44

You just have to go through the hoops with eBay and u will get refunded even if the seller is not helpful. You must start by complaining to the seller.
Second hand computer kit is like anything else used - cars, boats, guns, women - best avoided by novices.
good luck

David Report 15 Jul 2020 21:19

Thank you for that post Rollo, I don't know if it's
blocked, but it's certainly acting like it.
I paid £30p plus postage from eBay, regretting it.

RolloTheRed

RolloTheRed Report 15 Jul 2020 18:33

It is quite possible that Amazon have "blocked" the device in which case it will never again connect to Amazon though you can load books sideways etc.

Best bet ist to get a refund from eBay and replace it. The seller is probably well aware.

A new Fire7 is only £ 50.

AnninGlos, this one for some mysterious reason won't lt me register or connect to my WI-FI

Amazon are very good at making money, you can get free books from them.

I reported the missing one on their site, whether any one took any notice, it's a miss.

Amazon Kindle are hopeless if you have a problem David I sympathise. The last 99p book I ordered has disappeared into the ether and I can't trace it and can get no help. so I am pleased it was only 99p.

I assume you have de-registered it before registering?

David

David Report 15 Jul 2020 16:36

Thank you, I don't own one, but it really ought to respond to my WI-FI and it doesn't.

I tried the Amazon help button, but my problem register ,was not listed.

I can't talk to a human because of Corvid-19.

Looked on you tube, saw a man identify a fault, take the circuit board out,

repair it, reassemble in 15 minutes.

Make sure you are entering the router WiFi passkey, it is on the bottom of the router. Case sensitive.
try changing channel.
Amazon have an ethernet adapter for the hdx which removes the need for WiFi.
