You are right, knowing what you are dealing with is good and less worrying. I am glad your doctor is supportive.

It all adds up now and in a way I’m glad I’ve been diagnosed with it, it is easier to deal with now and I know I’m being taken seriously by my Doctor.

You have to pace yourself, some days you may feel able to do more than others.

Try to stay positive

I hope so too. It's many years since I saw the rheumatologist, who just said to come back if I needed to.

I got used to the pain but the fatigue is the killer for me. Push for all the help you can get from the start.

Thank you Liz. I’m wondering if tomorrow the Doctor will put me on to a Rheumatologist, I hope so and soon.

Oh no. I am sorry you have been diagnosed with this. It's usually diagnosed by rheumatologists who will check many points on your body and if 11 or more cause pain it's deemed to be fibromyalgia.

I would be interested to learn what, if any, treatment they offer. The only thing I get offered is painkillers.

Take care and treat yourself gently.

The Doctor looked at the form and phoned me this morning to say that it is Fibromyalgia, I’m to write down the symptoms and I see him on Thursday.

I have been taking vit d tablets for ages, usually with magnesium as it helps absorption apparently. Because I am not often outside in the daylight, (sleeeping) I don't get enough sunlight. I have to buy meds myself. Blood tests just before lockdown showed no problems.

I hope you don't have fibromyalgia, it's a devil and there's very little help to cope with it.

JoyLouise, not yet. :-(

The form is to see if I have Fibromyalgia and I take it to the surgery Monday so maybe they will be opening up then too.

ZZzzz
My OH has just this minute had a text from our surgery to say it is opening up again next week.
Hopefully yours is about to as well.

ZZzzz, has your doctor ruled out Vitamin B deficiency?

If not, it may be the cause of your fatigue.

It would be easy to test this by having some Marmite or Vegemite every day - say on hot buttered toast. If you don't like it (and I realise it is one of those love or hate things), you could stir some into gravy where you'd hardly taste it.

I hope it is something minor like that, so easily fixed.

Good luck!

I have to fill out a form and hand it in on Monday and hopefully Doctor will phone me in the afternoon. :-|

ZZzzz Report 26 Jun 2020 10:19

Over here we have to go through the triage system which I think is rubbish anyway.
The Doctor phoned me this morning, after going through my symptoms I have to pick up a form, fill it in and take it back to the surgery Monday morning I should then get another call in the afternoon, I’m spitting feathers at the moment about this triage malarkey.
I understand that because of the Coronavirus they don’t want to see people but it is frustrating just the same, and it is taking a long time too.
Rant over thank you for letting me vent x.

My daughter had this problem - went to 2 doctors at her old GP's surgery, moved and saw a doc at new one - no one was listening as symptoms too vague. Went to a private nutritionist and was told to get a DNA test at 23andMe with health. When it came back she told my daughter to avoid gluten and dairy and get a blood test for vitamin D straight away. She told daughter that she was unable to absorb much vitamin D as both my husband and I had problems with absorption and she'd got double our problems as she'd inherited the problem from both of us.

Daughter went to see the nurse at the surgery and asked for the blood test explaining what was happening so the test was OK'd. A few days later she got a phone call - come to the surgery asap and get you prescription, you must take vitamin D tablets as you have only a very small amount well below what it should be.

Daughter now avoids gluten and dairy and takes vit D every day and is fine now, energy levels back to normal.

Yours could be like our daughter's a combination of things. She has a job where she spends quite a bit of her time outdoors but her problem was the ability to absorb vit D from the sun. Her DNA flagged up the possibility of celiac disease hence avoid gluten so it also saved her from that.

Marvellous what you can do when you understand DNA :-S

Hope it's sorted soon :-)

How long have you felt this fatigue? How does it affect you? I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome and my fatigue is ruining my life, but I get no help in the way of meds etc.
