Whilst, along with all right minded people, I abhor the murder of a black man by the police in the USA, I would be interested to see any footage leading up to this incident. With the ubiquity of phone cameras, I would be surprised if no-one was recording the incident as it unfolded. Is there something that would alter the narrative? Comments please.

Well, apparently Mr Floyd went to buy some cigarettes and gave the shopkeeper a counterfeit $20 dollar bill - which he, in turn, may have been given.

This event in 2019 may help understand the uproar about Mr Floyd:

I saw the clip where the police officer said that he was resisting arrest but not seen any footage to say that this was the case. The one on all news programmes clearly shows him on the floor saying I can't breath. There were also people there who were telling the police that the man was in distress and they took no notice . In my opinion the police should be charged and put inside for a long time.

Death often comes as an unexpected thief in the night.

The brutal conduct of police in Minneapolis has provoked nationwide rioting & highlights the historic injustice of racial disadvantage in American society.

Thank goodness for the British Bobby. There have been more appalling film of how some US cops treat people on the news this evening. Race didn’t come into it.

You can't be serious

https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/met-police-cressida-dick-no-longer-institutionally-racist-racism-black-officer-a9001176.html

while police dish it out to all and sundry of any color you like though BAME people the most.

The biggest differences is that most of the police do not have access to military grade weaponry and the Home Office has succeeded in keeping control unlike the US where the police unions run the show. Paradoxically perhaps the lack of firepower with the UK police greatly reduces any tendency to serious rioting at the latest fatality although it can and does happen.

Given that while Mayor of London Boris bought a fleet of mobile water cannon ( which May forced him to sell on ) heaven knows what he will go for during any civil turbulence next year.

My father was an met. officer in east London. The language and attitudes then have changed little to today. A good friend of our family.

Unfortunately, such abuse by some of the police also occurs throughout Australia :-(

I knew you’d complain, Rollo. And I don’t care.
I didn’t say the Bobby was perfect, but I would certainly prefer them to a lot of those US cops.

By, the way, Rollo, you have no idea what me or mine are. Or what I did, or what the current generation do.

The difference is Rollo most of the American public own guns and not just pistols and rifles we are talking automatic shotguns. What are the police to use pea shooters :-|.

According to the NRA and Trump it is the good guys who have arsenals of near military grade weapons hence the opposition to gun control. The average American does not carry a weapon - illegal in NYC - and if they do own one it has v rarely been fired. Typical guns ladies. 32 guys. 38.A. Not in any way a threat to police armory.
Canada has much tougher gun laws along with widespread ownership. Serious gun crime though is rare compared to over the border - the Canuks think first shoot last.
