That's because Ancestry is an American site, and they have just split off the separate countries .....

........... you usually end up paying more because Ancestry will convert your NZ amount into American dollars. The exchange rate for them to do that and then the exchange rate when it is charged to your credit card can mean quite an increase!

I did once look at the .com site, and it seemed much more difficult than the .co that I have.

I'm in Canada, most of my research is in Britain, so I've always belonged to Ancestry.co.uk. Every year they try to change me to Canada, but I wouldn't change to Canada. I do need to do a little research in Canada, but I can see what records they have for Canada very easily by pulling down the list of countries and clicking on Canada instead of England. If I want to see the full details, I would pay the extra for World.

Have you looked at FindMyPast? It's the much bigger sister to Genes Reunited, has very good records, and offers DNA testing.

I am interested in both joining ancestry and DNA testing. Every time Itry to phone the kiwi number I get some American who does not even know where nz is.

Are the emails that you have recent ones? It could be that the emails referred to an offer that has now finished and you would need to pay the the full price to get a DNA Kit now.

If this is the case, best wait till another offer comes up :-)

Edit Just re-reading your Post are you interested in joining Ancestry or getting a DNA Test Kit or both?

order the kit via Amazon for one of the low price offers.
They are NOT 12/12 but pop up from time to time around such events as mothers day, anzac day and so on. I got mine for £ 59 iaround Christmas time.
If you belong to Amazon Prime postage is free.
My NZ rellies'Ancestry accounts are working fine.

good luck

59 dollars seems very cheap as in the Uk it is about £79 plus the postage which probably is close to your 159 dollars.
There have been previous offers here of £59 plus postage.

Hi there can anyone in New Zealand tell me how to join up to ancestry from nz. I havegotemailsfrom them about getting a DNA test done for $59.00 but whenever I try to load on to it it tells me it is $159.00. I must admit I am getting quite frustrated. I tried phoning the nz 0800 number but got through to the states who were no help at all.
So is there any Kiwi out there that can help me.
