ZZzzz, correct, but those earlier storms did not affect us apart from the rain.

We live in Australind which is some 160 km south of Perth.

Although in the Shire of Harvey, Australind is usually classed as being in the Greater Bunbury Region. It makes Bunbury's population figures look a bit healthier :-D :-D

My cousin in Perth said there had been a storm and fences were down a couple of days ago.

Thanks, PSD, Belle and Ann.

Went to bed early Wednesday night as we only had an hour or two sleep on Tuesday.

Eight pm an email from the insurers saying that they would give a cash payout for the fence, and the damage to the roofs would have to be assessed, which is what we expected.

Today we received a call from the assessor who will be here next week.

Very happy with the response from the insurance company; according to the news tonight there had been at least 170 calls to the same company just from our area.

We cleared some of the garden but intermittent rain slowed the process down.

Overall we are a lot happier than yesterday :-)

Sounds nasty allan but I suppose it could have been worse. Hope you can get the roof fixed soon, are the missing tiles likely to cause leaks? I hope not or that will be more expense. Glad you are both safe though. <3

If we don't hear from the insurers we'll just have to bite the bullet and get someone in to do the repairs without authorisation.

We do have some money set aside for a 'rainy day'

I always wondered how that expression originated and I guess that question has been answered :-D

I hope you find someone to fix your tiles fairly soon You'll want to keep dry and prevent further damage.

The damage has been so widespread that it will take the insurers some time to process all the claims. We are insured through the RAC (Royal Automobile Club) who are one of the larger companies.

The next problem then is to find someone to do the roof repairs and fencing; we could be waiting for a while

Well as soon as it's light we will be out to clean up the garden and house surrounds.

Tuesday evening and all day yesterday we have been battered by a severe storm. When these storms have occurred in the past the garden has copped it but the house has usually survived intact.

This time however we've lost several ridge tiles and have loose tiles on the main house roof.

The boundary fence is down and a few trees split in half.

The main damage occurred in the early hours of Wednesday morning and yesterday was spent assessing the damage and trying to contact the insurers:-(.
