We just all have to think positive and remember we will regain a normal life in due course,

If they llifted the rule tomorrow I'd be the last to want to go for a coffee with friends or shop in a crowed supermarket,,,,,,,when I hear no deaths have been reported then I'll feel more comfortable to mix with family as they are top of my list for safety and I don't care if I don't see them for a much longer time.

Well I used to go to coffee morning once a week with the U3A and then do my weekly shop.I still drive

My knee replacement surgery was cancelled early April for the 4th time .not that I would have wanted to be in hospital for even 48 hours and then on my own for the six week healing time. My granddaughter was going to move in with me .she works in banking in London but she would have made sure I was settled and comfy

I have a chair lift anyway and downstairs cloakroom so we would have managed


I used to have my grandson in the holidays and we got out and about so I was in the big wide world quite a lot ,some weeks out more than others but I was out

Am not going out at all now as can’t walk far anyway and at 83 am told am vulnerable so not taking the chance

Am popping out into the garden but that’s limited as getting hay fever now too


Not feeling sorry for myself just a bit concerned my mobility is being compromised with all the sitting around

Do try to do some gentle exercises when I am up but feel it’s not enough

I'm certainly not going out shopping.

OH has done the weekly grocery shop alone for several years, but we do usually do other shopping together, whether that is on "main street" or the mall. We usually go out to eat every Friday night, now we're having order-out pick-up from the local Japanese restaurant.

Haven't been to our favourite celebratory restaurant since before Christmas, they're now closed and may be closed for good as he was intending to close down after 35 years on August 1st.

OH usually has his haircut every 3 weeks, I usually wait 2-2½ months ............. he had his hair cut 2 weeks before everything closed down, so 9 weeks ago. I haven't been since just before Christmas for one reason and another. I'll be a really shaggy dog before they get re-opened here!

We have season tickets to the opera, the last show in March was cancelled and we were given the money towards the next season, which opens in October/November ............... exactly when our Provincial Health Officer and others expect the second wave to be in full flow.

We usually take one short holiday in either May or September/October, going both ways by sleeper train. Doubt that the trains will be operating even for the later one.


So, in some ways life will change very much for us but in the coming months rather than at the current time.

So not much has changed for you Sylvia only the lack of friends over coffee...…. :-).

But I wonder how many will be out and about doing freely the things that are not an option for them now with restrictions in place .,,,,,,,,,,most I think will not want to go in crowded supermarkets,go to pubs or cafes,restraunts,carboots etc,,or sit nest to someone at the hairdressers,,,,,,,,, :-D.

I began my 7th week of isolation yesterday.

As I posted above, I went out for the first time on Monday, 2½ weeks ago, for the first of 6 outings for me. I haven't been out since Friday last week.

We used to go for coffee at least 6 days a week, and meet friends. So these last weeks are unusual.

As regards seeing our daughter, if we are lucky we see her twice a year every other year, only at Christmas the intervening years. If we cannot make the trip this coming Christmas, the next visit would be for her to come here at Easter break next year, if that is possible.

So the length of time so far is not unusual, the possible length would be very unusual. ................. especially as we are 80 and 81 years old.

did you see your family every day/week/month.

did you go out every/day./week or month.

I think lots will find,,its only the*** knowing*** that some lack of freedom has been affected.

I can't believe how peaceful it is. No traffic noise even from the main road 1 block away.

I'm spending less time on the computer, but doing a lot of reading. I've been out for take-out coffee and a sit in the park while we drink them about 6 times in the last 2 weeks, when we had lovely sunny weather. That IS allowed here! No drinking or eating in at coffee shops and eateries, but many are open for take-out or delivery.

No mixing of family of course, unless you live in the same house. Daughter phones us once a week, and we have email and her private FB page.

Daughter is over 5,000 km away, with her family, and it looks like we may not get to see her even at Christmas time, as the Canadian health officials, and in other countries, are talking about a second wave arriving with the flu season. That will lead to a crackdown again. And who would want to take an 8 hour flight or 6 day train trip (our preference) unless absolutely certain that it was safe.

I only watch the TV news once a day, listen to the radio lots because of the programming (not for the updates), read the newspaper, keep myself current with all kinds of news, and have my regular once a day rant at what the trumpoid has tweeted this morning. Can you believe that idiot?!!

OK, I'm not alone, I have OH .......... but that can be a trial sometimes (??a lot!!) ;-)

We make sure we're eating well. I wash my hands frequently, but am not so sure that OH always washes his hands after he comes back from shopping or his evening walk, so I wash mine even more.


I heard this morning that the best estimate from Canadian specialists for a viable vaccine is in 12-18 months, so a long time to wait.

We're being told not to look at resuming anything like normal life before mid-summer at the earliest, though restrictions will be eased as soon as it is deemed safe.

I don't think I've taken such a relaxed attitude to decorating before! :-D
So far, I've decorated the kitchen.
I've just about finished the living room.
Today I thought I'd paint a few doors, then strim the very long grass in the front garden, and/or wash the kitchen floor.

Unfortunately, one of the doors I painted was to the cupboard under the stairs - and I painted when it was closed.
The cupboard under the stairs is where I keep the extension cord needed for the strimmer.
Apart from the logistics of opening the door, as soon as I open it, George (cat) appears from nowhere. :-\
So that was strimming on hold.
Washing the kitchen floor was the other option - but I need to put the paint away - and that lives in the bl**dy cupboard under the stairs :-|
So I've been on the PC.

Daughter or her wonderful friend get my shopping,but I do sneak out and walk into town occasionally (about once a fortnight)

Once I've finished decorating, I have a rather overgrown garden, and when it rains, a few half-built dolls houses upstairs, with drawers full of furnishings etc!
Oh - and a few hundred books to read or re-read.

I live alone and am ticking over . Could do more at home but spend toooo much time in the recliner on the iPad !

Daughter rings me every other evening and granddaughter and grandson and his family check that nan Is ok

Daughter though is wanting to give mum a hug . She is missing her dad who passed in 2015 and worried she can’t be with me in case I get sick


It’s very frustrating being on your own . Some weeks I only got out once but I felt I was in the outside world and it was my choice to go out or not

I am lucky that I have priority shopping slots for online shopping with Sainsbury’s so have regular grocery deliveries

Bee cat though doesn’t understand no fighting cos the vet is closed if he needs antibiotics cos he has an infection.he won’t stay in when he wants out

Harold the 60 plus old tortoise is ok and eating and wandering around the patio and then putting herself to bed .she is Harold because only recently was identified as a female greek spur

Two big goldfish who are over ten years old are swimming in the pond with the pond filter working and eating fish food

Guess all is ticking over but is still a bit where is this going ?
