My dad's funeral was a farce.
He was a Moslem, so his (not the brightest spark) second wife, had a Roman Catholic priest in to his cremation (which he shouldn't have had)
So, we did all the Christian stuff - plus.
My gran (mum's mum) was a syllable behind everyone else.
Every prayer ended in 'Amen'.
In that quiet, reflective moment after a prayer, from gran, at the back would come 'Men'.
My youngest, in between my sister and I, genuinely thought we were crying - we weren't.
Our shoulders were moving up and down as we desperately tried to control, and silence, our laughter.

OH's uncle died and we went off to his funeral, in the week after I had had my head shaved.

Oh dear, that was a strange experience, my bald head was one of the more normal parts. It was in one of those clappy singy churches with a trendy young preacher with some very strange songs.

Could be worse, Sharron, it could be Hillsong

I was watching a video about one of the medieval kings on You Tube this morning and, as ever, was totally irritated and distracted by the plain son and church bells that always have to be played in the background.

In some ways we are very fortunate to only be hearing plainsong and that wailing woman who often performs on these films because, in a few hundred years time, when the videos are made about us,people will be trying to pick out the commentary above Meatloaf and a bit of heavy metal.
