Somebody at the nursery behind us was banging on a piece of metal this morning, probably constructing something, and it sounded so loud and intrusive.

It would have just been part of all the other noises before.

I know it is very selfish of me but I do love this peace.

Silence remains a valuable currency.

Whilst the motorway a couple of fields away is blissfully quiet, the dog next door is being allowed outside to bark all day so no peace in the garden here. :-S

I think I heard a female cuckoo the other morning and I have never heard that before.

The old man was out there gobbing off, as I reported at the time, buy I think that sound I heard on another morning may have been the female.

Panic this morning, I thought I could hear the recycling lorry (it would be our normal day).

Nothing to see, either someone was moving an awful lot of bottles or I could hear the lorry on the main road which is done the day before us.

One noise that I HAVEN'T heard is the ice-cream van.

By now, we would normally be hearing a very scratchy version of Greensleeves.

Just cooing doves and amorous seagulls around here now.

Don't they play that music to tell you they have run out?
