Over these next two weeks of the Easter Holidays Teachers, Teaching Assistants and school support staff across the country will continue to go into schools where they will interact with children of NHS staff who are highly exposed to COVID-19. They will not be given face masks or protective clothing. They won't get free coffee, half price pizza or special shopping hours. They will perform their jobs in ways they have never done before and they will do it with a smile on their faces so that the children in their care don't know how scared they are.
Thank you to all Teachers, Teaching Assistants and anyone else heading into a school this week, so that our NHS and carers can take care of the sick and the vulnerable, our shops can stay open and deliveries can continue. You too are heroes!

Thank you for that Andysmum. My daughter is one of the “heroes”. I have been saying for a while that few people consider the staff who are keeping the schools open. Her school is a secondary school but they are also taking in children from a local primary. They have a rota system so she isn’t in school every day but she is on call all the time because she is the child safeguarding lead.

It must be a worry to you, Vera.
My daughter's friend is a teacher in Hampshire and on a rota like Vera's daughter. She was in school working on Good Friday and will be back in early this week.

They always have to have certain categories of staff, with particular qualifications or roles, so several staff need to be available even if only a few children are in that day.

Well done to all of them, serving their community in this particular way.

Thanks for saying that ANDYSON, my daughter is a teaching assistant & my granddaughter is school office manger (same school) they are working every other week. Also they are on call over Easter and on their weeks off.

My daughter's an NHS worker.
One of her sons, aged 11, didn't want to go to school, because of the coronavirus risk.
Fortunately(?) her 18 year old was at college, which closed, so the boys (aged 9 and 11) are being 'home schooled' by their sister.
(We'll ignore the odd photo my daughter receives of her daughter dressed as a dinosaur 'schooling' her brothers!)

I agree, those still working in schools, with no protection - educating the children of NHS workers - who are, in many cases not supplied with sufficient PPE - should be applauded!

My D.I.L. is a headmistress also , not everyday as on rota system, she was in Good Friday, only 1 child that day but there had to be 2 of them at school.working,
Agree with Andysmum, I applaud everyone who is working, they are all heroes & when I clap on Thursday evenings I clap for all of them. I taped a note to my wheelie bins to thank them, thank god they are still working. <3

The one good thing about this pandemic - we can see who the real workers are - the ones who really keep society and communities functioning. <3

And it's not those raking in more money than they need....
