I tried it for the first time today and found it most tedious!!

I’ve always used it as Sainsbury’s is half a mile away and I don’t drive so use it for the heavy stuff. I’ve never had an issue. What happened?

Yes I use it

Used to do online shop when hubby was losing his mobility and getting unsafe to leave on his own

Have now been given priority delivery slot once week as a vulnerable ,probably because of my age

The more you use it the better it gets as it stores your usual favourite items you buy so you can call them up and reorder the items you want

Before you checkout it reminds you of items you have bought before and it’s a reminder in case you have forgotten any item

I find it very easy to do now

You do have the chance too to go back later and amend your order to add or delete items

You just have to remember to do a checkout again once the order has been amended

Looking for the Items I wanted....for example, 1.5 k Mcains oven chips straight cut...couldn't find them...found others...went from page to page...,maybe I was a bit stressed, and impatient...

We're new to online shopping too Bob, it would stress me out, so I let the fella do it :-D

I feel your pain Bob. I couldn't find what I wanted at all - but I found Tesco's even worse!

I got in a pickle on the Sainsbury's one, thought I had ordered two sweet potatoes but had apparently ordered 0.2 kgms :-D :-D Let's say I hope I am not hungry when I get round to using the tiniest 2 sweet potatoes I have even seen, by the time they are peeled probably one wedge from each. I did laugh when I saw them though :-S :-S :-0 :-D

Lyndi.............LOL ;-)

I went to a farm shop a week or two ago and they were operating 'no one in the shop'...so I asked for 6 carrots, six parsnips and 12 sausages....they placed them in the boot and i Contactlessly paid the hand machine which was on a 6 foot piece of 4x2 ...
when I got home the carrots were the size of a cucumber!!! the parsnips like indian clubs!!

strange going back to the days when you asked for items, instead of browsing and selecting them yourself!!!

Sainsburys is within walking distance for me so it's where I do most of my grocery shopping. They did me no favours when they emailed a relative, my bestie and my neighbour - all in their early 70s and two of them who use the store occasionally - to offer them priority slots for over-70s at the beginning of the lockdown. I am on the older side of 75 and no matter how many times I tried, I could not contact them.

In the 1990s I used to order online delivery from Iceland so I tried there. My password was still recognised, I pressed the over-70/vulnerable button and got a slot for two days ahead. I managed to get the essentials, milk, loo rolls, butter, potatoes etc and a few frozen items but there were several things items unavailable. Still, I was pleased that I had got a slot. Have your list ready if you try Iceland as you only get an hour to shop after booking a delivery.

The following Friday I got an email from Waitrose offering me a priority slot as their records showed I was over 70. I placed an order on the Sunday. Delivery two days later - only one item unavailable and six perfect substitutes. They also offered me another way to shop with them which was a superb gesture and very much appreciated. I shall use it when I need more shopping. You get three hours to shop after choosing a delivery slot so it's a more leisurely 'stroll around the store'.

After two weeks of self-isolation living in separate areas of our home, my OH and I were by now in lockdown when I tried Sainsburys again. Success - a couple of days ago my delivery came, not everything but enough. Two hours to order after choosing a slot.

So I have been lucky - one delivery per week, as I would normally have shopped.

I got nowhere with Tesco or Morrisons and won't try again as long as Iceland and Waitrose come through for us.

Alas, M & S, also in walking distance, has done itself no favours - not got any delivery organised at all. My younger pal went for its hour shop for over-70s and the queue was round the car park. She gave up and went to Saimsbury's where the queue was shorter.

It seems that M & S has missed a trick. I shop there if I'm at that end of the shops and feeling lazy but I have resolved, in future, only to buy the couple of items there that are unavailable elsewhere.

I recommend trying Waitrose and Iceland.

By the way, I have cards for Waitrose, Iceland, Co-op (don't deliver here), Sainsburys, Tesco, M & S and Morrisons because, not being a fussy shopper, if I am out for the day I tend to pick things up at whichever store is there. After all, milk is milk, butter is butter, wherever you shop.

Strange how the shops seem to vary from area to area. I am still waiting for Waitrose to decide we are elderly and offer us slots.

Local friends of ours are both on the government vulnerable list and the chap is an ex Sainsbury’s employee but they were totally unable to get slots. They were telling their daughter about this on the phone so she said “Give me your details Mum and I’ll have a go”. An hour later she rang back -2 slots booked. The daughter lives in New Zealand!

I’ve found Tesco the best. I’ve had to go online at midnight to get slots but otherwise it has been easy, though I have used them for years so know my way around the website. Bob, Tesco have a search facility and you can search for one item or a list of items. I imagine Sainsbury’s must do something similar. If you can’t find something it’s often quicker just to put it into the Search box.

Good luck :-)

My mum is the same with Tesco. My uncle despite being only 58 is unable to go out due to health issues. My mum sits on the computer at midnight and is able to get Tesco deliveries for him.

My uncle lives 380 miles away otherwise my mum would get the shopping herself.

My shop was for delivery between 7 and 8pm and at 7.10 the delivery guy was putting the grocery in the porch
He then rang the bell and acknowledged me when I opened the door

They had packed in plastic bags but not charged as I had put self isolating on the delivery instructions

Only one item they couldn’t supply

Was talking on Facebook later about hair needing a cut and I said I had taken the scissors to mine and not done a bad job .just have a fine array of grey roots

Then was ?? I ordered a root dye but didn’t see it in the shopping but they didn’t say couldn’t supply ?

Checked the order and seems it didn’t order when I clicked on it!!

Never mind will be on next weeks order :-(
