I'm intrigued to find out where my grandmothers were.
Dad's mum - Granny Beatrice - born in Cornwall in 1908.
Her mother died soon after her birth, and in 1911, she's living with her dad's parents.
In 1911, her father had remarried and had a year old son, strangely, Beatrice's mum's dad is living with them.
It appears her dad's new wife wanted nothing to do with Beatrice.
Granny Beatrice told me she was brought up by her dad's sister (also Beatrice), and her family, and they ran a shop in Pennycomequick.

Mum's mum - Grace, born in 1904, started courting my grandad not long after his first wife, Vi, died of epilepsy.
However, Grace knew Vi, but only vaguely knew my grandad, (through Vi) so I wonder if Vi lived near Grace in her childhood, or was ever well enough to go into service, and met my gran there.

Grace definitely went into service aged 14 - I have no idea what Beatrice did (apart from a few crimes in WWII - thanks to the 1939 register!) :-S

...It was just a week or so ago.....

We bought the set of 1881 reels, neatly packed in their special case and we felt really pleased to be able to find people so easily.
Waiting for the individual discs to load, then whirr into action while they searched was great.

Mum was born, but her siblings were yet to arrive, but I think I know where they were in 1921.
Dad and his brother and sisters were probably in Portsmouth, but maybe not as some might have left home by 1921.

Not so long ago, a few weeks maybe, i was waiting excitedly for the 1881 census to be published. We had to raise money for the record office to buy it.

Then, just now really, we were waiting for the 1911 census to be published.

Won't be long now before the 1921 census is out and I can see both Fred and my lovely Uncle Bill. With a bit of luck, my mother was not yet born!
