Hi everyone.
Yes I'm still kicking around in the background.
I hope everyone is staying safe.

Harswell,
Call your GP.
My son in law should also have been on the vulnerable list but. he had no contact from NHS either.
He is normally fit and able but, a congenital condition and lifelong medication means he is immunosuppressed.
At the point of lockdown, he decided that going to work was too risky.
His employers have been hassling him to return to work ever since.

On Thursday, he managed to get a telephone consultation with his GP who, apologised and was adamant that my son in law should definitely not be at work.
His condition is rare. He was apparently missed off the list in error.
GP has now provided his employer with the relevant documentation.

My son in law is a postman!
I don't think Boris and his crew thought the letter thing through.
Royal Mail need to plan for this in advance and like so many organisations, they too are struggling with staffing issues during the virus situation.

Usually, mail like this would be delivered by two people, working in tandem.
Virus rules state that only one person can be out in a Royal Mail van at any one time.
We've not had a letter either.
I know my regular postman and noticed that my mail is being delivered by a different person every day.

Yes my mum was already registered with Waitrose, she's expecting her first order today hopefully it works out okay. She'll be sharing it with her neighbour and one of my brothers who can't shop due to health issues....but even then she'll not have contact with them phoning them then leaving it outside her front door!

Who is my neighbour?

It’s a well known fact that many elderly residents in the UK live in relative isolation by not knowing their nearby neighbour(s) properly & making no great efforts in better times to improve the situation.

Neighbours are not there solely as a ‘breakdown’ service to be called upon in an emergency. And the break up of family relations adds to the human frustration.

So Sheila won’t be running out of toilet paper yet ;-)

Harswell should have had a letter by now - I’m not sure how it works but supermarkets seem to be getting the lists and contacting people. Harswell also needs to contact the surgery about getting on the list.

Here are local village have organised contacts (not needs yet but you never know) and the neighbouring council have a special contact number. Don’t know about ours didn’t look it up as the village has it under control.

Maybe Harswell could give a clue to where they live and someone on here might be able to help or point them in the right direction.

Parish councillor, church councillor, churchwarden, vicar, anybody a bit high profile whose number you might have available to you, should be able to tell you where to turn locally for help.

Govt dedicated helpline is 0800 0288327.

Waitrose is a bit hit and miss as well Caroline and you have to be registered with them. My neighbours were contacted by them several days ago, I haven't heard a word. I went online to contact them about it and they have a note up asking you not to do that but to wait till they contact you. At this rate I'll still be waiting at Christmas. Luckily I am getting slots with Tesco but you have to be online at midnight to be able to get one.

Harswell that's awful. Can you contact your MP or Councillor or local church even if you're not a member? I know my mum hasn't had to use any of those thank goodness but they've all been available if she does. Do you have a Waitrose nearby they are doing deliveries to seniors etc before the regular public in my mum's area, they contacted her as she was on their list as a senior.

No letter here either.

It sounds as though you should be on the vulnerable list Harswell. Can you query that with your GP? Two people I know have had the vulnerable person letters. You could also try calling your local council as I think some at least are sorting out help for those with problems getting food supplies.

No Letter from Boris here. I think it's a waste of an awful lot of money which would be better going to the NHS and emergency services.

Harswell

Is there no community help where you live?
Local charities and organisations have grouped here to provide shopping, prescription pick-ups, dog walking etc. for anyone who needs assistance.

No letters at all from Boris, NHS or anyone except phone call from my oxygen suppliers. Not received parcel or is the help only given to south of Watford Gap.
Have not had bread in the house now for over 2 weeks as we cannot get out or get a delivery.
