There's a certain degree of bias ;-) ( edit: and a lack of vocabulary, in many of the comments on various places) I note that a couple of places I like are slated in comments on the site because they are ( apparently) too middle class.

I live outside town ( just) and it is not included in the top 10 but is mentioned on site, (as is the nearby market town which must have nice once upon a time but has 'decayed' not very gracefully as so many once prosperous old places have). It's a new town that has spread to the old villages that have been here centuries, not to their benefit imo.

To some extent it depends on what you are looking for, the number of restaurants/ bars etc in the town makes it a good place if you are young, or you like shopping, but it lacks a soul and it isn't for me.
