Morning peeps
Not wanting to brag or namedrop...lol but this episode was filmed just up the road from me. I saw many of the actors/actresses in and around the town happily posing with people for photos etc. they were all lovely people.

It will be interesting to see all the locations and see if I recognize them, some scenes were short further away down in Harris.

I have watched this series from the beginning and remember as a child of 9 when my brother was born, how the mums with cigs in their mouths and the drs smoking at their desk!!! But I remember the romper suits and just the general style of living that we had late 60s early 70s.

Anyway I'm sure it will be as good as ever and shall comment after its been screened.

I'll be watching too. My sister was a midwife in the 60's and it always reminds me of seeing her go off on her bike when she was on the district. In the winter bus drivers would often stop and pick up both her and her bike to get her to where she was going quickly. Everyone knew a nurse by the navy mack and white hat.

Well that put the Hebrides firmly on the map!
It was done very well and yes the man who wouldn't row them across to the lighthouse on the Sabbath would still be the same today.
My exs family don't celebrate xmas and have never had decorations or a tree in their house.
But the community spirit is still here and people rally round to help one another.
For my 40th, I stayed in one of the Black houses. They are very modern inside and you can rent them out to stay for a night or a week.
Those beaches are beautiful and exactly as they are today.
Just not sure about that Miriam woman in it.Is it just me or am I right in thinking she somehow doesn't fit it with the rest?

My favourite has to be the oldest nun. When she escaped on the train, I thought she was brilliant;-))

To those who watched hope you enjoyed the scenic views of the islands.

The scenery was beautiful and the colour of the sea on the white sandy beach was gorgeous you could understand why the doctor thought it was a good place to bring his children up when comparing it to the grime of the 60s Eastend :-0

Interesting to hear from you Florence that the strict observation of the Sabbath is still adhered to today....I can remember going to the west coast and Skye on a Sunday years ago and nothing was open in fact I felt a bit like an intruder as I don't think they then even liked you driving:-0. We always say we went to Skye and it was closed

Yes, I like Sister Monica Joan too the actress plays here role well :-)

It is a beautiful area Florence I loved that episode. I can’t say I envy you the isolation really but I envy you the beautiful scenery. The white stag, do yo actually have a white stag there? They are beautiful but grandson insists it was graphically inserted.

Yes Ann I think you maybe correct. We have many stags here but I have never seen a white one!

Skye is more"open" now than other islands especially with the bridge as people can come and go whenever they please. When I first came here in 1991 it wasn't built and I remember the protests by people about the tolls after it was built. Its free to cross over now 7 days a week.
We used to get a small ferry across and no it did not run on sunday.
It is a beautiful place for a holiday, a safe place to bring up a family or to retire in but its isolated the further you travel away from the town centre. You need a car, that is essential.
But jobs are not plenty and in the rural areas, you may not have any shops, PO or Drs so anyone who considers moving here needs to weigh up everything before making a decision.
Over the years I have had neighbours who managed 2 years, then they leave. Why? Well they usually run out of money, complain about the price of food and fuel etc and don't make an effort to fit in with the community.

But having this programme filmed here im sure will boost the tourism in the summer months. My best friends down south who have been here were telling their families"ive been there."
In the town here there are a few hotels now open on sunday as well as the Chinese and indian take away but the public toilets are closed...so not great in the summer!

Glad those of you that saw the episode enjoyed the scenery.
