The one good thing I'm hoping no one can complain about your election was you seem to have had a very good turnout, what was it 67% on a not so great weather day.

As for leaders one question Ms Sturgeon did she stand for a seat this time? If not why doesn't she ever stand...?

Johnson simply has not got the qualities which make for a successful PM. Thatcher had them in spades. He has a terrible, vindictive personality, gets easily bored and practically never reads his briefs. The talents of journalism translate poorly to politics.

As a result de facto governance will end up in the hands of rival cliques within the Tory party while Cummings devours the Civil Service..

Johnson is likely to get bored - grinding through trade negotiations, climate change and the NHS is not his thing at all. Trump's Republican party is in deep trouble with Democratic governers in such places as Louisiana. Trump will not be president Jan 2021. Johnson will get no love from Democrats on the hill.

Labour have been here before - Wilson v Gaitskill, Michael Foot. Freed of the incubus of Corbyn and Corbynism after the usual infighting it will rebuild under the likes of Starmer .

Thus Johnson will have to square lack of US support, a restructured Labour party, providing goodies for the men of the north and Asian Brummies ( free visas? ) , hard nosed EU and even harder nosed China. Plus of course the cracking of the political ice sheets which make up the UK. It was not a good night for the DUP.

It certainly means that Northern Ireland will leave sooner than expected, The SNP vote can't be ignored, much as Boris would like to dismiss it.

I’m pleased Boris is back with a majority. I feel for my Labour voting friends, Corbyn is hapless and should have taken the very large polling hints over the past few months and made way for someone less immovable and angry.

In the early hours he refused to accept responsibility, in my view, not even having the decency to apologise to his MPs who lost their seats.

I wonder how long it will be before he steps aside?

Yesterday, I voted along with millions of others,

I was fully aware that so many people around the world have risked their lives to have this privilege and how hard our own ancestors suffered so that women could be enfranchised.

Our area returned the labour candidate.

I have no faith, confidence or belief in Boris Johnson whatsoever.

My thoughts today are with those who are in desperate poverty,
sick, disabled and for our front line services.

As predicted, this corner of the country is totally Blue, except for an island of Red in Canterbury.
Our MP is not popular with many people, because of his views on local large-scale developments, so many people were voting against what they DIDN'T want, rather than totally for someone.

Corbyn, although retaining his own seat has resigned as Leader of the party, but will remain for the time being to ensure a 'smooth handover', whatever that means :-S :-S

Well, our General Election in late October resulted in a minority Liberal Government (the party in power), but the Tories did much worse than the pundits anticipated.

The Leader of the Tory Party stood up in the House this morning and announced that he was stepping down as he had been convinced that he could no longer lead ...............

...... he is very right wing, religious, well known to be anti-abortion and gay marriage though he maintained that he would not attempt to change the laws allowing both of those, nor would he allow "his" Party to do that ........... but what really did him in was that he stated publicly that he would NEVER walk in a Gay Pride parade.

That made lots of people wonder about his other views. Politicians here are expected to do that, whether they are local, provincial or Federal.

Lot of back stabbing went on from the rest of his Party, both inside and outside Parliament.

I must admit that OH and myself, and several other friends, cheered when we heard the news this morning!

I would not be surprised to hear that Corbyn suffers the same fate.


We leave on holiday tomorrow (Friday), 6 days on the train without any news except day(s) old newspapers and 1 night (5th night) in a hotel .............. we'll be eager to get news of what happened with you guys!

Following the exit pollsa land slide majority is predicted for Johnson.
In excess of 86 majority the greatest since Margaret Thatcher.

Labour's result due to toxic leadership may result in a new leader.
