Thank you Rollo, I appreciate your reply, will study it.

The used PC I saw on eBay had a much greater

capacity HD so perhaps it's time to change again.

Thank you.

No you will have to shell out for Windows 10 again.

The cheapest way to do this is to download Windows 10 (free) and save the installable package to a bootable DVD-R or, more common these days, a bootable USB Key. A lot of sellers offer Win10 ready to go installed on a USB Key just needing a key.
OEM ( install on one computer only ) keys are as cheap as chips on eBay and Amazon. M$ don't like this but it is a result of consumer rights in the EU. After brexit expect different terms.

There are plenty of how-tos on the net giving the details of what to do.

Installing Windows 10 over Windows 7 can create all sorts of problems and can take ages. Far better to save your data to backup and reformat the hard drive - an option which the installer will give you. If your memory is DDR2 go for a 32bit install, DDR3 64bit and expand it to 8 GB usually 4x2GB.

A couple of years ago I had the free upgrade from Win 7 to Win 10.

Something went wrong with my PC and I got rid of it. Replaced in with

another with Win 7. At the end of this year support for Win 7 ceases.

Q) Could I use Win 10 on this PC with the former administration number ?

Or will I have to purchase a new one ?

Ive seen second hand PC's with Win 10 loaded for sale eBay
