I have been a vegetarian for forty-odd years and have been able to eat out without causing a fuss for most of that time. Of course, it has become easier over the years with more people becoming vegetarian and providing a market.

We have all become used to tweaking the ingredients on many things, in particular the all day breakfast which generally meant passing on the bacon and sausage and maybe having an extra egg or whatever. That way we ate what we wanted.

Very recently veganism has taken off in a big way and businesses are going out of their way to cater for vegans with some very positive results like the new, delicious vegan bacon. Unfortunately, there seems to be a whole new take on food that does not contain meat.

What I don't understand is why anybody would expect to eat avocado with a fried breakfast. It doesn't taste of anything and the texture is quite nasty with the other breakfast components which now appear to also include halloumi cheese.

It is weird, it is alien and I just want to go back to not having the bits I don't want because one of the things I really don't want is bloody avocado!

I don't like avocado either, my daughter would live on it smeared on her toast!

Iy's alright but it just doesn't taste of anything and it doesn't go in a fried breakfast and neither does cheese.

Hi Sharron so long no chat.

I am a meat eater as I hate veg. but as an animal activist how can I.

That is a very good question
Does anybody realise that if we all stop eating meat then cows. pigs, chickens will be extinct as nobody would breed them.

If we all ate just veg then the land would become worn out as it could not cope with the demand.

The UK is already having a shortage of lettuce because Murcia region got flooded out.

So to all you veggie´s out there continue as you will be the ones who are responsible for the demise of herds and of the lack of fresh veg

Leave it out Uzzi.

To each their own Uzzi I switch between veggie and carnivor depending what I fancy eating but I could not live as a Vegan. My daughter tried it years ago and made herself extremely ill but I am not against anyone who takes it up.

You can leave out the avocados in any shape or form in any meal I'd eat and No, I don't think they go well with a cooked breakfast.

My family rarely make a fried / grilled breakfast, but if we do, we'd often include halloumi and have eaten this for years. This would be my choice rather than bacon.

I have no problem at all with anybody who wants to be a veggie or a vegan. and happy to go out for a meal with them. I do object to being preached to or sitting in the said restaurant being told that I shouldn´t be eating that as it´s cruel.

Each to their own as Lagooner said.

No one on here but I have had it happen in the past. :-D. I was just making the point that we should all live our lives as we wish. Oh and as for Avocado I find it gritty and horrid so no thank you to eating it :-D :-D :-D

I can't stand the texture of Tofu, and have an unfortunate reaction to Soya :-S
So just because of the Soya reaction - be grateful I'm not a vegetarian! :-D :-D

Would seem a little accusatory to jump in and tell me I am wiping out half the planet when I was saying I didn't like avocado.

I like meat and eat it regularly but not every day of the week. We have fish at least once a week, eggs for supper once a week, and my lunches usually contain cheese ................ but "imitation" cheese.

Because I am lactose-intolerant, I cannot eat anything made with or containing even a small amount of dairy.

So I guess I support cows on the one hand but not on the other!

As regards avocado ............ I like it in small amounts, but not with a cooked breakfast.

Similarly, we are just back from a short holiday, and 3 times in 5 days I had a Virgin Mary (or Virgin Caesar as it is now called) ........ and each time there was a stick of cooked asparagus in the glass.

Now that really does not go with the tomato juice mix!!!

The original bit of greenery was a stick of celery!!

I like avocado - but only 'as it comes' with a dash of lemon.
Not sure I'd like it on toast.

I sometimes have avocado sushi roll (6 pieces) if I feel like a vegetarian option that isn't cucumber!

They're tasty!
