I feel that a lot of our MPs will feel our anger at the next general election I really cant get my head around the fact that we voted to come out (I did not) but I go along with the majority that silly old men and women in Westminster are not working for us, yes DC is to blame for this and now Boris is to blame for bring the Queen into it it's getting worse by the day

Sharron Report 24 Sep 2019 17:47

Just nobody expected the vote to go the way it did and I doubt anybody had thought it through to any degree.

We shouldn't a been allowederaht. I blame DC for the predicament our nation finds itself in.

Now, if BoJo jumps ship I can't think of any capable bod who would be able to unite everyone and lead us out of the mess.

I could have written 'when BoJo jumps ship' but I think he is far too gung ho and can spin such a good tale that he may try to bluff his way out of anything,

What are the odds he'll do just that?

Think about it.How sensible was it to ask a nation who had recently voted to call their very prestigious polar exploration vehicle Boaty McBoatface to decide anything more important than whether they wanted vinegar on their chips or not?

13 previous PMs each held office for less than 4 years.

George Canning was the shortest serving PM in British history - so far.

He served only 119 days in 1827.

One thing all this has proved is that unless the result goes the 'establishment' way, a referendum decision isn't worth the paper it's written on. This whole miserable exercise has been a complete waste of time, evergy and money, when Parliament could have decided in the first place, as they now clearly are going to do anyway, and saved us all this misery!

I hope none of the MPs' return to Parliament are hindered by the Cook debacle.

Oh well that lets me out of any discussion doesn't it? I read The Guardian, and sometimes the Independent online, and I watch YouTube. So of course I must be brainwashed and not able to think for myself...oh and of course I sometimes watch the BBC.... so no hope for me is there !!

Must try harder on my "researching interest" below...not working is it!

Parliament has passed statute law such that if the govt is unable to reach an agreement with the EU re brexit by October 19 then the govt must request an extension from the EU AND accept any variation of the request made by Brussels.

There is minimal if any progress on reaching a deal. It is very much in the interests of the EU to accept another extension ( 2 years ext is current flavour in Brussels ).

Although Johnson is not very keen on obeying the law the reality is that he has no choice. If he declines to sign the request then by convention the Cabinet Secretary , a civil servant, would sign.

The main force keeping Johnson in a job right now is the antipathy towards a caretaker government with Corbyn at its head. The "zombie" parliament will effectively be run by Bercow. It has show little enthusiasm for a nodeal brexit.

Well, I have no idea where the country is going but it is fascinating to watch the process that is taking us there.

Not surprisingly, I had no idea that these areas of our laws and constitution even existed but am looking forward to exploring them further.

Whatever happens and however vulnerable we may be at present, it has been an enormous kick up the **** for British politics and, indeed, European constitution because, however we leave will have a bearing on how anybody else ever leaves the union.
