The house in Church Street, Lambeth, was the first incarnation of the National Children's Home and Orphanage, set up by Methodist minister Thomas Bowman Stephenson in 1869.

There was an article on London News last night about this.

Some chap on the news had found his 2xgrandfather. The lad in Church Street went on to make good, I think he said he was put into care because his mother had died, and his father was not able to look after him. So sad, but a good ending.
