Civil defence volunteers got an ARP air raid protection badge. I still have the sterling silver one of my GF but from about end 1940 they were of base metal. CD was run entirely at the local level with varying levels of bureaucracy. FMP had some CD records on line but mostly they are lost. You could try the v efficient Essex Archive service. |

if he is on1939 register might say if he was and will give you the area. You can google to see if any records for that area |
