They probably expect you to use your free bus pass, David.

The buses can lower the step up to them so it's level with the pavement - so no step up to board the bus.

I still drive but locally I always use my bus pass as our parking fees are very high.

David

David Report 24 Feb 2019 15:51

Prior to 2013 I never had need of a Motability car Joy, I drove my own for 40 years.
As well as wrecked the bones in my left leg are diseased, post surgery AHI. My knee does not, cannot bend. By the time I appliesd for a Motability adapted car I was 67, too old.

If you've never qualified for one previously, David, they may be justified. After all, if the judgment is on age alone every pensioner would qualify for one.

Why give free bus passes if that were so?

David

David Report 24 Feb 2019 12:35

I didn't qualify Joy because of my age. I'd have thought the older one got, the greater their need for a Motability car ?

JoyLouise Report 24 Feb 2019 12:08

I don't know your circumstances apart from what you've told us about an injury to your leg, David, but perhaps if you don't qualify you should be happy about it?

David

David Report 24 Feb 2019 11:44

She asked me if I was depressed or anxious about anything. My reply was something like what's the point ? Ive a TV and a PC and a Kindle, I can think and reason. Mind you, the fact I don't qualify for a Motability car Peed me off. I even e-mailed Jeremy Hunt

Thank you Shirley. How many of us wear a wrist watch and look at it to tell the time, then then look at it again minutes later ? :-D :-D a habit, nothing to worry about.
As well as tour task bar displaying the correct time, your newspaper displays the date at the top of every page.

The days pass slowly, yet the years pass quickly ;-)

Hubby used to do those tests when he went to the memory clinic every six months

I used to say well I don't know today's date off hand because we were both retired and each day was much the same so if he doesn't know what's the bother

I still have to ask myself what day is it today and check on my watch for the actual date as it's not important to me

We didn't buy the daily papers so just following the actual date wasn't that important to us and now me

I use a large calendar hung up in the kitchen to plot appointments etc and look at it too see what if anything in on the agenda for the week

It's nice to know and reassuring that you passed your MOT David

:-D

Yes, I agree, the lap top task bar is a help.
It's the times when I am not on the computer and need to write the date that I then have to think sometimes.

Most weeks I mark primary school random times tables tests, when I go in to volunteer.

That helps to keep the old brain cells ticking over.

David

David Report 23 Feb 2019 17:51

The memory test and mental agility test could have been about anything, so it's not something you can rehearse.

The correct date and time are always displayed on the task bar.

Good to hear you are OK David.

Unless there is a reason to know the date, it can easily be not known.
I always know which day it is, but the date sometimes takes more thinking about unless it is significant.

At my age, I'm 74 this year, having been a smoker until I quit in 1996 and having been a drinker until I quit in 1978, I knew there could be complications. My buggered leg was avoidable, but there it is. My true concern was the dreaded DEMENTIA. It is a horrible disease that's been in the head lines for a decade. But the nurse assures me I've nothing to worry about on that point.I'm grateful <3

On Thursday morning I received a visit from a nurse.I was given the flu jab. Was told the results of my blood tests were good. I'm not diabetic and my kidneys are functioning well. She gave me an ECG which was A, listened to my heart and lungs and told me all was in order. She stated an address that she said she'd ask for later. Asked me to recite the months from December to January backward, asked me to recite from twenty to one backward, asked me if I knew the date was two days in arrears. She then asked for the the address she'd given me which I repeated correctly. She then said not only were my heart and lungs and kidneys good but was happy to report report I was not suffering from dementia !! THANK GOD FOR THAT :-D :-D <3
