The GRO page also now says that pdfs for births and deaths are now permanent :-D

"GRO has been piloting a service providing PDF copies of historical birth and death records. From the 16th February 2019 PDF’s have become a permanent service."

That page also now says ............

"From 16th February 2019 GRO .......................... made changes to delivery options. Extra charges will apply if you do not order certificates online or include a GRO index reference (where available)."

A friend phoned me yesterday to tell me of the increase.

Ordered another 9 PDF death certs which I wasn't desperate for but suddenly they became more important..lol

There was a thread a couple of weeks back about price rises, but like SylviainCanada I can't find it now.

pdf cost from £6 to £7

Certificates from £9.25 to £11

and something about ? non digital pdf's to be £8 and the poster was hoping this would mean marriage certificates would be available at a cheaper price.

Spoke to GRO the other day with a query and asked about the marriage certs. - they do not come under the scheme, only birth and death pdf / certificates.

The pdf's are also increasing in price ..........

.......... I think to £8 from £6, but I can't find where I read about it.

Wow...I didn't realise that Andy.

Locally it is not easy to book an appointment with the Registrar within the required time expected to register a death.

The added price increase will be another unwanted extra at an anxious time.

The cost of certs at the time of registration is also going up at the same time to £11. Its currently £4 so a huge price hike. Will really hit when recording a death as you often need multiple copies to send out.

Saturday is the day of the price increase to £11

May be worth hurrying up with those 'meaning to order' certificates
