My mother joined the WRAF c.1947.

She was courting my father at the time (ex RAF War)
They had gone to the town's fair and my father was eyeing up the girl from the local pub. They had a row and she told him to go off with her .... so he did! :-0 :-0 :-0

She joined up and was demobbed to marry him three years later :-D :-D

OH was out digging the garden some years ago. Unusual for him at the time (just to set the scene!)

My elderly friend came out of next door and asked how I was.
