David, If you get a new one then you can transfer the stuff from your old device as long as they are both under the same Kindle account. |

As said your books are stored on Amazons server and can be downloaded to any device on that account. I have a Fire HD 8 16gb and two Paperwhite kindles on the same account that my wife and I share no problem accessing books on them. |
