From yesterday's news:

A bus-driver in Paris made all the passengers get off his bus, because they were blocking the way for a wheelchair user trying to get on. He then told the wheelchair user "You can get on. They can wait for the next bus."

:-) :-) :-)

It didn't say. I don't suppose the driver waited to find out. :-)

Paris bus drivers all have working video backed up by a fully staffed control room. Any trouble and the Paris police will be on the job very quickly,. Bus drivers, aware that they have realtime backup, are not nclined to put up with much so these sorts of stories are quite common.

Bus and metro fares are far cheaper than in London. The Paris municipality pays around 70% of pubic transport costs from tax.

It is now v tricky to drive around Paris even if you know where you are going. Our offices are in Neuilly-sur-Seine allowing us to avoid much of the madness.

Not really 'cos I hardly ever use them. Prefer the metro.

Before the current no nonsense regime was brought in a close friend was a Paris bus driver. He had to put up with all kinds of urban terrorism which drove him to drink though never on duty. He became very depressed. His (very pretty ) wife, a postwoman, found it all very difficult to cope with and no easier when their daughter was born.

One day she stepped off the balcony of their flat 14 floors up.

My bus driver friend left Paris after that and went back to his grandfather's village where he is a fisherman. No depression and a lovely daighter.
