There are two people with an Archie Whitehouse born 1886/7 in their trees. You could contact them both to see if they have any other information. These birth years would probably fit with him being in the first world war.

Hope you can reunite the medal with his family. I would love to have my grandfather's three medals but unfortunately they are with a cousin in Australia who was named after our grandfather, so I suppose it's only right that he has them, but it doesn't stop me wishing they were here with me.

You might end up giving it back to the person who put it in the auction in the first place Sue. Actually, that sounds like a good wheeze. Put something with your name on it in an auction, some kind person like yourself buys it, tracks you down and gives it back. Put it in another auction, etc. etc...

Bob the chap came from Worcestershire. bought this medal from top of Lancashire.

Don't think it matters to me who put it in the Auction.

Another thing WHY are you doing your tree or is it just to put people down for a good deed done.

COS I won't put up with shit from people that trys to put me down.

The only reason I do this is because when my father died my bloody mother sold my fathers medals, swords and all his uniform for a fiver.

They had been separated for years and I didn't know even until 4 weeks after he was dead and buried.

She didn't tell me so I couldn't do much about it.but I did search all the pawn shops and medal shops around the city but never got them back.

My Grandad sold his because after he came back from the war he could not get a job so sold them to eat :-(

Sue

The above census showing an Archie Whitehouse as part of the family, there are several Trees online seems to indicate this man married in 1909 and then emigrated to Canada, the following year, may not be the right man.

The thing is, Sue, that the two people with Archie in their trees may not see your post. It would probably be better if you sent a message to them and hope they still have the email address that they registered with Genes.
