No comments yet on the odious bloke on the plane hurling abuse at a 77 year old black woman. Has he been named yet? Ryanair should have had him removed, the plane hadn't taken off, so what stopped them.

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 23 Oct 2018 20:39

Not sure if he has been publicly named, but he has been banned from flying with Ryan Air in the future. Any related charges will have to be made via the Spanish legal system.

If they'd off loaded him in Spain, they'd have had to find his luggage in the Hold - no checked passenger, no unaccompanied luggage! It would have cost the airline money if they missed their Slot.

They've identified the bar steward, and Spanish authorities are now leading an investigation.

It was upsetting to see and hear this VILE human being. He should be banned from every airline as far as I am concerened.I can't put into words on here what I actually want to call him.

I think I read somewhere that Ryan Air staff don't get paid until the plane takes off, hence they didn't want delays.

He was such a vile horrible man, poor woman should have been treated better, and he should be prosecuted for being racist.

I hope he is punished somehow, he shouldn't get away with such awful behaviour.

Apparently he's very unpleasant to his neighbours as well. Perhaps he should be banned from flying with all the operators.

I think this man was a disgrace and
he should be banned from Ryanair for life

But I now think this lady is milking it for Compo
She didn't look that upset on the Video to be honest
and the Staff did move her to another seat

Having personally suffered racist abuse in the past though I know from experience that the emotional impact can be difficult to deal with.

She's also an elderly lady.

What we shouldn't forget, is this goes on all the time. :-|

'The British who stand-up for Britishness are sometimes called racists'.

One obscure comment seen in a regional newspaper - and I don't know what to make of it. :-S

But this particular Ryanair passenger is just an ignorant prig. Bar him from future flights. :-P

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 25 Oct 2018 08:16

It depends on how the term 'Britishness' is interpreted, as to whether it's racist.

Some people interpret it as being accepting, and broad minded.

Others, believe 'Britishness' is keeping things as they believe they were 80+ years ago.
I say 'believe', as 'they' appear to have a limited, sort sighted and Blytonesque view of Britain that long ago.

So we now know, 'wrongdoings' have reached the Upper House.

What an awful example for the country & outsiders' opinions.

Laughing stock!

maggiewinchester

maggiewinchester Report 26 Oct 2018 07:58

'Wrongdoings' have always happened at the Upper House - and in the Commons.
As for 'setting an example', if 'we' tried what half the Government does, we'd be caught.

BrianW

BrianW Report 26 Oct 2018 08:08

The Upper House is now just a haven for retired politicians and political favourites so not very different to the "Man in the Street".

It should be non-poitical and appointed on merit, not as a mirror of the composition of the Commons.

It is also far too big (in numbers).

Its now been announced
The Lady is taking legal action against Ryanair

Told you it was all about money :-( :-(

He lost it, he's apologized. What more can he do?

JoyLouise

JoyLouise Report 26 Oct 2018 14:46

I don't know exactly what happened because I was not next to them but the first reports in our newspaper stated that the lady was already seated when he wanted to gain entry to his window seat. Apparently, he asked if he could get past her to his seat.

Her response was not mentioned in our newspaper but, as he was sitting down when he began 'spouting off', he had clearly gained access. Incidentally, where was her daughter when this was happening? I would have one helluva job from keeping my daughter from being by my side

He would have been better keeping his mouth shut once he was seated ..... and it is my guess that he wished he had indeed 'buttoned up'.

Britishness? It's more a matter of civil and courteous behaviour, in my opinion.

I haven't read anything other than what was first reported and this thread but if the lady is seeking recompense from Ryanair good luck with trying to squeeze a penny out of the company because Tony wossisname is nobody's fool.
