Shirley~I,m getting the hang of it Report 23 Oct 2018 15:36

So 24th is the 3rd anniversary of losing my darling hubby

Can't believe how the time has gone by but also how I have had to move on

He was the most quiet kind hard working guy . Wasn't that self assured and had difficulty sometimes accepting how much he was loved by his daughter, grandchildren and grt grandkids.

He was quiet , loved music, very much into being a practicing Roman Catholic
His faith and the support of his local church were so important on his last journey

My step grandson and I are going to his local church in the morning to take some flowers for the church in his memory
The book in the church will be open and his name and others who passed on the same day will be prayed for at the 10am mass

Can't believe it's 3 years he has been gone ,but yet again seems so long that he was here sitting in his favourite armchair

You move on cos you have too but it's difficult

I feel for you Shirley.

Time is a strange thing, when you've lost someone dear to you. It seems an age without them and yet the actual day you recall like it was yesterday.

I think it's a lovely idea for you to take flowers to the church that meant so much to him.

Will be thinking of you.

Thank you Gwyn

You know others have the same scenario but when it's you it's still devastating

Grandson says miss grandad ,nice man. This is the lad who has learning difficulties but can still be sad for his grandad and talk so lovely about him

I hope you will find comfort in memories of happy times, Shirley, as you take the flowers to the church with your step-grandson. You have coped well and it's lovely that you can still help care for the lad who misses his grandad.

Will be thinking about you

Thank you all

We went to church this morning and took some flowers

Two lovely ladies there ,one of whom used to visit Michael at home as his mobility worsened . She gave Kieran a big hug and asked how he was doing

The other lady took the flowers to put in water and see too later

We looked at the memorial book to see his name with several others and told him we love and miss him

Was assured he and the others named had been remembered at the 10am mass .

Felt very relaxed and pleased we had been as we walked back to the car.

What a lovely gentle visit you had Shirley. I hope the rest of the day was as you would have wished it and you could remember happy times you shared as a family.
